Attorney General Has No Intention Of Resigning Despite Criticism Over Termination Of Prosecutors
- And to think this country elected George W. Bush not once but twice with Evangelical Christians leading the charge. We must be living in Stupidistan! And whatever happened to Tom Delay? Shouldn't he be in jail by now? I long for the days of Richard Nixon. Now there was pure dark, unadulterated evil the kind that even the mask of religiosity could not hide.

- Gonzales said he had his former chief of staff, Kyle Sampson, coordinated performance evaluations for the 93 U.S. attorneys "to see where changes might be appropriate."
"I signed off on the recommendations and signed off on the implementation plan, and that's the extent of my involvement," he told reporters.
But when this first started didn't Gonzales say he had not discussed the firings, ( like I don't know anything about it ) - Reply to this comment
- "Confusion" - dang, how did we get caught? I thought Congress was tamed, the media afraid to report, and the fired attorneys sufficiently threatened to keep this hidden!

- I believe that 'imprisonbush' has hit the nail on the head. This is a corrupt administration, and anyone they 'throw overboard' might pull a Joe Valachi. When Joe learned that his mafia masters were going to wack him, he ratted long and loud. Gonzo knows where many of the bodies of are buried.

- Now let's assume that his original [deceitful] position were true: his office was going to fire nearly ten percent of the US Attorneys chosen by Bush. Gonzo says: (1) did not know who they were; (2) why they were chosen to be fired or (3) when they were to be fired. He just delegated this incredible power to some young lawyer in his office and signed off on whatever he decided. How incredibly incompetent is that? If Bush had not signed off on and agreed with this completely, you know Bush would be very upset about such treatment of HIS US Attorneys. Gonzos put himself in a box that he will not be able to extricate himself. My guess is that Bush refuses to fire him because Gonzo has lots to tell about the improper workings of this administration and this criminal President cannot afford Gonzo talking too much.

- Now, after Sampson testified that Gonzales took active participation in the firis, the latter falls into a state of amnesia. He says he does not recall. This loss of memory in so many members of the executive is serious. Maybe they should consult the Secretary of Health about medications to fight that malady. Or is it that their memory loss is selective? He recalls that there was nothing improper in the firings. It is just that he does not remember having participated. There is another serious illness in the guy: there is a pathologic condition in his pattern of lies. It is amazing how this guy does not have an idea about what decency and dignity mean. It is almost impossible to imagine that the guy dares to come out from his bedroom. The DofJ is in shambles and he nor Bush could care less. What a bunch of incompetent crooks we have given ourselves!!!

- We can clear this up just as soon as Gonzo and other members of the Bush syndicate appear before a Senate investigation committee. And, testify under oath as to what they recall.
Enough of Gonzo's lies and obfuscations. - Reply to this comment

True enough (i.e. that incompetence and dereliction of duty are not crimes), but lying to Congress IS a crime, even if not under oath. He's committed that in spades. - Reply to this comment

Whether GONZO is a treasonous war criminal, or an incompetant dope, his welcome has clearly run out.
Once he is gone, he can explain his actions to a war crimes tribunal. - Reply to this comment
- What a liar. It is just great that we have a liar as our top cop, and what is even better, we have a president and a majority of Republicans supporting the liar. Gee, could it get any worse!

- Nixon first showed the usefullness of forgetfullness, Reagan raised it to a fine art, and Repubbies have benefitted ever since. Still, pretty amazing for a Harvard Law School grad to have such a poor memory. How did he ever pass the bar exam? affirmative action?
