The firings were politically motivated. US Attorney Lam for instance had sent notice to the DOJ that she intended to issue indictments against more crooks in the Abramhoff / Rep Duke Cunningham scandal THE DAY BEFORE she was notified that she was being forced out.

If they were not, "loyal Bushies" then they had to go. This came from the top.

The whole administration lies to protect their lies.

"I thought that was part of his job,to hire and fire. Now if he did it to gain personal or friendly clout then fire him!" Posted by swwils

It's not about the hiring and firing. It's about the reasons for the firings, and the lies and the cover-up.

Not much changed in the White House and Congress over the years, except the faces. It's the same ol' lies and cover-up. What has changed is the total incompetence of this president and his staff, the audacity of the lies that he expects his "subjects" to believe.

I guarantee, Gonzales would never make decisions like he did without his supervisors approval. This administration isn't about individual thinking or actions. All do only as Bush-Cheney tell them.

...Henry Kissinger, James Watt, and Janet Reno have all been cited by Congress for contempt; however, agreements were reached before the matter reached a grand jury.

Regarding contempt of congress and enforcement: Just as it is in law enforcement and the medical profession, there is a thin line that no one wants to cross, and therefore corruption and/or incompetence runs amuck.

"Lying to congress is usually considered a criminal offense, in and of itself." Posted by tuckerndfw

Yes, it's called "contempt of Congress;" the deliberate obstruction of the workings of the federal legislative branch. For example, a witness under subpoena who refuses to testify before Congress can be cited for contempt of Congress.

Lies, lies and more lies.

This administration is based on lies and deceit.

And the liar-in-chief is the greatest liar himself.

From his AWOL days in Alabama to the lies that got us into Iraq, this President is the master of the con game.

"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act."

-- George Orwell

This man (Orwell) was a genius. A member of the Bush administration telling the truth, now THAT would be a front page news story.
