Comments on: House Dems Rally Support For Iraq Deadline
Bill Would Set Sept. 1, 2008, As Deadline For U.S. Combat Troop Withdrawal
- You guys are actually proud of that? That 41% is an actual improvement? Even Bubba's approval was in the 60's during Monica. It was 73 after the impeachment and he left office with a 68, highest rating for a president leaving office in 70 years of polling. But 41%? That's embarrassing. And it's not like that was a momentary drop, which happens to all presidents. Bush has been in the 30's and 40's for two years straight now.

And you feel a sexual predator, womanizer and s-o-b who lucked out because of Regan's and Daddy Bush's policies should be applauded? He's a pimp and his VP is chicken little. I don't care what his ratings were, the liberal media I'm sure put those rating as high as they could. He lies and get's away with it. Bush tries to protect the country and the chant is he must go. Sorry, the people vote to elect a president not the Congress no matter how hard they try to discredit this man, he's honest, Billyboy never, ever was. And just in case those little minds want to counter that the Supreme's elected Bush. No. The Supreme's told Goredo to stop counting. - Reply to this comment
- perception5,
You call a "do-nothing" congress the one who did more in two months than the previous ones in years, the real "do-nothing", "rubberstamp" GOP congress.
But of course, you couldn't come up with a new adjective. - Reply to this comment

...... Rafterman1, there is a concept that you need to start warming up to....... it's a POLL.
Slick Willie in his two election victories NEVER got more than 50% of the American vote. He was elected by a "minority"..... but I know he his still your hero..... - Reply to this comment

- I believe at this time this is the only bill that has enough support to be able to override the president's veto.

...... Rochest, did you read the article?? The Dems couldn't even get enough votes to reach 50%......without adding $21 billion in corrupt liberal PORK to gain the votes of a few more Dems who DON't like this bill.
FYI, this bill won't make it through the Senate where the GOP has the majority when it comes to Iraq. If it does our President will VETO it which means our do-nothing Congress would have to come up with a 2/3thirds majority to override. Won't happen.....NOR should it.
Have a nice day........ - Reply to this comment
- Democratic aides expressed growing confidence of success when the vote is called. Four of the bill's most consistent critics said they had told the Democratic speaker of the House, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, they would help pass it, even though they intend personally to vote against it.

- OMG.....I can see the libs running around wetting their pants right now! Can you imagine what would happen if the new strategy in Iraq actually starts WORKING? Notice the way the MSM is scraping the bottom for any bad news to report.

- while I would like to see a faster timetable for withdrawal of our troops from Iraq and the only money approved should be for transportation home I have been wrestling with this issue of should we as progressive Democrats support this bill or not. I believe at this time this is the only bill that has enough support to be able to override the president's veto. In that way is the first opening volley of wresting control of this country and constitution away From these criminals. However I would like to see the support for the Iraqi oil sharing agreement removed from this bill. The agreement as written does not have the support of Iraq's oil unions(who knew they even had unions) and many of the government political parties since this agreement gives 15 of Iraq 80 oil wells to the Iraqis while giving 65 of oil Wells to 4 internationl oil companies plus any newly discovered oil to them for the next 35 years. So once again certainly looks to me like our brave men and women were sent to this region to secure a business deal. All the lives that have been destroyed both American and Iraqi, is truly catastrophe and This administration should be tried for its crimes against humanity.

- Looks like the American people are catching on to this "Do-Nothing" 110th Dem control congress. In 2008 Americans will fix this. See except from Gallup:
GALLUP NEWS SERVICE
PRINCETON, NJ -- The modest uptick in approval of the job being done by Congress has dissipated for the most part after only two months. Congress job approval had risen over the last two months after the Democrats took over control of Congress in early January -- fueled in large part by a jump in approval among rank and file Democrats. This month, however, Congress job approval is back down to levels quite similar to where it was in 2006. Democrats have lost a good deal of the positivity exhibited in the first two months of the year after their party took over.
According to Gallup's monthly update on job approval of Congress -- in a March 11-14, 2007, national poll -- 28% of Americans approve of the job being done by Congress and 64% disapprove. This marks a substantial change from January and February, with approval down nine points and disapproval up nine points.

I cannot contribute to this conversation because I am so fighting mad at what these socialists are doing in the Congress and what their constitutency on the campuses who are inspired by professors who support this *** are pursuing that I may just lose it all. However, you have summed it up so succinctly that I am belaboring the point. This warped, rabid and mindless party would rather lose the war so they can benefit in '08. They are the scourge of the earth. - Reply to this comment

After blowing over $500 billion tax payer dollars to improve a desert hole like Iraq it would seem to be the pinnacle of hypocrisy to criticize the dems doing whatever they have to do to put an end to this fiasco. After all, wasn't it "mission accomplished" years ago? so let's just "stay the course" for four more years and call it a new strategy. there must be at least one neocon that isn't a mindless party zombie on this blog. - Reply to this comment

- Another day in Iraq and the violence is down sharply. However, the LIB party, the party of DEFEAT, still can't acknowledge improvements. Their political agenda will ENDANGER the security of this country!

- Well ......here we go again. What our corrupt liberal MSM wolfpack ISN'T telling the American people is the fact that this bill WAS for $100 billion....... Nancy Pelosi, in order to get her votes has added $21 billion in "favors" to BUY the votes of Dems who were against this bill.
Remember how our corrupt liberal press came down hard on the GOP for their EARMARKS...... and how the Dems, if we elected them, would put an end to this?? Like their other promises, the Dems, have decided it's going to be business as usual.
Please refernce excerpt from realclearpolitics below:
"So how does Pelosi plan on getting the House to pass the Iraq spending bill? As The Washington Post reported, the Democratic leadership has larded the U.S. Troop Readiness, Veterans' Health and Iraq Accountability Act with pork. After all the (deserved) rhetoric decrying Republican big spending, the Democratic leadership inserted $25 million for spinach growers, $75 million for peanut storage, and $120 million for shrimp and Atlantic menhaden fishermen into the supplemental spending bill.
The idea is to sweeten the pot so that war opponents will agree to fund a war they oppose, while war supporters will vote for the bill, despite provisions the seem to be designed solely to undermine the Bush surge."
This 110th "DO-NOTHING" Congress WILL be replaced in 2008...... or it's business as usual. Oh yeah the extra $21 billion will be paid by American taxpayers. - Reply to this comment
