Former House Speaker Admits He Was Cheating, Says Clinton's Lie Was At Issue
- The 'just because I wasn't asked and didn't tell and wasn't caught it was acceptable' is just wrong.
Using that line of reasoning it was OK for the BTK killer in Kansas to go on for 20 years have a family, work for the city as a house inspector, become a deacon of his church and run a Boy Scout troop because he was an "upstanding citizen" and didn't talk about what he did!!!
Why is it if you donate enough to the reigning church and look properly repentant you can get away with ANYTHING. - Reply to this comment
- Growing up in the South with Christian consertives I can say with full confidence that they are the biggest bunch of hypocrits on the planet and Ginrich is a prime example along with the flock of TV "evangelists" who only preach for bucks. Geeezus!

Clinton was the most investigated President in U.S. history. Twelve years of investigations and tens of millions of wasted tax dollars later, all they turned up was an unauthorised bl0wj0b. It was the hunting of a President from the begining, an abuse of the judicial system, and a waste of taxpayer money. They kept after him till they found his weakness and then they went in like rabid dogs.- Reply to this comment

Wow...what happened to the dope smoking "peace & love" liberals of my generation? The ones who used to believe in fairness and everyone has a say?
SteveX, I believe you would silence our right to free speech. I think you don't believe in our right to freedom of expression. I think you are the textbook definition of a nazi. Better wise up and do a little self examination. - Reply to this comment

You bet I was. Conversley, I will NEVER vote for Gingrich....for any reason. He represented my district in GA. When he resigned and it came out what he was doing, I ripped his bumber sticker off my car. And he had two wives before the last one he was cheating on. The man is a disgrace! - Reply to this comment

- What a surprise!!!
How easy it is to play the word game to make what he did more "acceptable". Had he been in the same position as Clinton before they made such a big deal about Clinton's "perjury" - given the same opportunity & expectations of keeping his secret - he would have done the same.
I'm not at all surprised to read this as cynical as I may be - the entire time the Clinton investigations were taking place %u2013 it was inevitable that the majority of the men persecuting Clinton - were guilty of the same %u201Ccrime%u201D. Changing the issue to perjury was a convenient switch of issues that perpetuated the perpetual attempts of the republicans to counter the succussful election results. This is all fodder to detract from the truth about how a person actually performs in office.
Pursuing even the President over such trivialities (since infidelity is commonplace - especially among high profile politicians) is merely a means to an end in the sour grapes anyone accused Gore for in demanding the votes to be recounted. The vote recounts had much greater merit than trying to impeach a president over some trivial extramarital affair in the 21st century.
It is time that the world realizes there is no way to expect any high profile politician to be free of "shortfalls of moralstandards". - Reply to this comment
Looking back, I think it's still surreal that an investigation into a real estate deal ended with prosecutors grilling a President about a consensual affair with an adult woman. It was no one's business. It was insane. It was the lynching of a President for nothing.
All the while, many of the loudest voices screaching for impeachment, were engaging in the same behavior.- Reply to this comment
- "You folks with no moral standards too easily judge those who fall short of personal expectations."
mnelsonix, In other words, as long as you call yourself Christian Republican and say "I'm sorry I've sinned," it's better, it's not hypocracy? I've been married for nearly 30 years and have never cheated on my beautiful wife. What about those of us who don't cast the first stone yet live honorable, decent lives as liberals? Is the Grinch better because he say's I'm sorry but I'm still a Christian? - Reply to this comment
- Clinton lied to a grand jury.
Libby lied to the FBI.
Both were crimes. The difference was that Libby was tried by a jury who made their judgment based on the facts. The US Senate did not have to base their judgment on the facts but instead made their judgment based on their political interest. - Reply to this comment

- YOU ARE AN OUT AND OUT BEDWETTING LIBERAL LIAR! Gingrich kept his mouth shut and RESIGNED as speaker of the house - even before he outed HIMSELF! He didn't feel like he had the moral authority to be presiding over a Clinton impechemnt when he himself was doing no less.

Gingrich resigned in lieu of being tarred and feathered... DUMBAZZ!!
Gingrich's congressional career ended in 1998 when he abruptly resigned from Congress after poor showings from Republicans in elections and after being reprimanded by the House ethics panel over charges that he used tax-exempt funding to advance his political goals. - Reply to this comment
