I know quite a few who do not support the Constitution shredding of this Administration. Remember, a major tenet of traditional Conservatism is keeping the government out of peoples' business and minimal federal government. However, it doesn't mean these people support Democrats.

Fine, but I hope conservatives rethink the consequences of their ideals if taken to the extreme. The human reality is that there will always be government. Someone or some group will rule. Do we want government that all americans or one that is for sell to the highest bidder and rendered privatized? Bush has proved government will take shape in one form or another. There is no way society can exist as a disjointed bunch of individuals without structure. I don't want private corporations providing this structure. I prefer a government representative of all individual americans. As Bush said, "a dictatorship would be a whole lot easier, so long as I'm the dictator." Well, I don't want it that easy. I'm willing to be patient and let the complete voice of the people through their elected representatives who are forbidden from taking bribes from lobbyists determine the best common good from a healthy democratic U.S. It was the vision of our forefathers. They saw the old world that Bush and his illusive hostile takeover crowd is pushing for in the guise of a new world order.

I want a strong government representative of all americans with an established, cherished, protected and vigilantly maintained system of checks and balances. A country of laws that are subjected to continual balanced judicial review that values representation of all americans. The anti-government rhetoric serves those who self-righteously have their sites on privatizing to the tune of no accountability to the masses of americans. This country was not intended to be one nation under one elite ruling class.

If anyone thinks ANYTHING is private anymore they're nuts. I just went on the county website to check on property taxes and saw a picture of my home with cars in the driveway. Who authorized that? Private companies don't protect our privacy so why not let the govt. use the info.to protect us or catch criminals. Who cares anymore. There is NO privacy, it's a thing of the past.

Lastly, ..."the sky has fallen and we are in a facist dictatorship" - one thing about fascist dictatorships is, THEY DON'T HAVE AUDITORS REPORTS THAT EXPOSE WRONG DOING!

You are a bunch of dumba$$e$

You were so proud of your clenching argument that you used all caps to make your point, but it wasn't as sharp as you wished. The second paragraph states, "Fine's annual review is required by Congress, over the objections of the Bush administration." Our would-be fascist dictators didn't offer the audits for transparency, Congress required it over their objections. They didn't want audits. These violations occurred even though they knew about the audits, without them, who knows?

At least 700 exigent letters were used for phone company records. They are supposed to be used in "exigent circumstances" where time is of the essence. Yet, "In many cases, there was no pending investigation associated with the request at the time the exigent letters were sent," the audit concluded. If there was no investigation pending, the circumstance couldn't very easily be exigent.

This administration has been consistent at over-reaching in invasions of Americans' privacy in the programs we learned of from sources other than the administration. How many more are there? How much abuse exists in them?

There seems to be more than one dumba$$ here, Sparky.

By the way, did you get your arguments from "Quotes For Dummies" or are you reading from Hannity/Limbaugh Logic Tips For The Brain Dead?

This should be of concern to everyone. The USA PATRIOT Act threatens or compromises the 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th Amendments of your Bill of Rights in the U.S. Constitution. YOUR RIGHTS. This is not a small matter and the potential for abuse of authority is enormous.

We are safest living in a police state. In a situation where your chance of being killed in a terrorist attack is roughly 1 in 30 million, why would you feel it's worth giving up rights and freedoms that every American soldier in history willingly gave up his own security to defend?

All of you who say, "if you're not doing anything wrong you don't have anything to worry about" are just plain un-American. Go to China or Russia if that's the kind of country you want. Let me know how long it takes before you change your mind. Ignorant fools!
