President Is Optimistic On Iraq, But Warns Of Possible "Spectacular Attacks" By Enemy
- notblue you said "We either fight them now and win or wait for there next attack here. Anyone who beleives they will just leave us alone has discounted all history related to these radicals over the last twenty years. They were attacking and killing us before Iraq."
Please list the attacks you claim the Islamic terroists made in the US prior to 911 because I don't think there are any. - Reply to this comment

Yes, it's everyone's problem now, but don't even think about trying to pass this off as anything other then George W. Bush's war. We should stop calling it the war in Iraq or and American war and label it for what it really is, Bush's War. World War Bush. Or perhaps Bush's folly. Any of those is closer to the truth then the war in Iraq. personally I nominate World War Bush as the best one. - Reply to this comment
- Iraq is everyones problem, not just the republicans,or the democrats,or American citizens,or Iraqi citizens, it's EVERYONES. How can all the carping about who knew what and when solve any of these problems now? Whether Al Quada was there before we went into Iraq or not is immaterial, they are there now, Iran is there now, militants hell bent on destroying democracy are there now. If we are willing to quite before stability is established then we must be willing to face those same attrocities here again. You all talk about the fact that they have been killing themselvess for years and will not stop. That type of barbarism is inconceivable for most Americans. The militant radicals will use our compassion and civilized ways against us. We will be weak in there eyes and they will bring there brand of war once again to our land. We either fight them now and win or wait for there next attack here. Anyone who beleives they will just leave us alone has discounted all history related to these radicals over the last twenty years. They were attacking and killing us before Iraq.

- "It's too early to judge the success of this operation ...."
"This operation" was called "Mission Accomplished" by you more than three years ago. Now you're saying it's too early to judge the success? - Reply to this comment
- 100 Iraqi's and 9 American soldiers died in Iraq and this as*shole is "encouraged"? What a ****king moron Bush is! What does it take to discourage him about the situation in Iraq? 1000 deaths? 100 more of our soldiers? Of course it's not really surprising since he doesn't consider Iraqi's or our troops to be actual honest to god human beings. I mean it's not like they're from his "class", right?

- The sick part is that it is privatization of the government into junk corporations that has screwed us all. The republicans will try to spin each one as an isolated incident. They really can't bear the thought that privatization could have negative consequences.

- "We can expect al Qaeda and other extremists to try to derail this strategy by launching spectacular attacks," he said. BUSH QUOTE
There he goes again! Linking Iraq with al Qaeda. Real slow for the inbreds...the Iraq War has been a salvation for al Qaeda. Al Qaeda could have and should have been vanquished by now if Captain Codpiece hadn't arrogantly swaggered into this fiasco with his infamous "Bring 'em on!" braggadocio. The Iraq conflict almost exclusively pertains to a civil and religious clash between Sunni insurgents (funded to a large extent by Saudi Arabia) and Shiite militias (who operate with the tacit approval of the Maliki government and who receive material support from Iran). Everytime Bush simplifies the conflict into his tired "us vs. them" rhetoric, with evil al Qaeda front and center in the imagery, he does a disservice to the reality and/or complexity of the conflict. Iran, Syria, and Saudi Arabia must be brought into the mix as part of any regional diplomatic solution to the on-going civil strife. Accomplish that and you can then go renew the fight against al Qaeda and their facilitators, the Taliban. Would that we could have intelligence discussion of issues in this country. With a simpleton for a president appealing to an equally limited intellectual audience, I would recommend against holding ones breath. - Reply to this comment
- NavyChief,,, Yep, that pretty much was the way it was, I was on submarine duty back then 67-88,, In order to get the job done sometimes you even had to kick offiecrs cans around, physically.... I retired from Point Loma in 88.

- j-whitman,
I'm thinking you served in the 70's and 80's, is that correct? If so, I uderstand your sentiment about Chiefs of that time. Many just hung out in the goat locker. I remember my first Chief on USS SOUTH CAROLINA (CGN 37), he was an E7. After 2 years on the ship and still a Petty Officer Third Class, I was more qualified than he was. - Reply to this comment

Yep, once there gone there gone. It's funny how the further you move away from something like boot camp the more you miss it. Even though when it was happening you were going "man...what the heck did I get myself into! - Reply to this comment
- Usmcvn,,, It took you how many years to earn 100 % dissability ?? Is this the same deal our curent vets are experiancing ??

- usmcvn ,
Thanks for your honorable service Devil Dog! And I'd say you earned 100% of what you have. I know that the VA does not always treat vets the best. My experience has been with Naval Hospital (mainly Balboa in San Dog.) They have always done good by me. My neighbor in San Diego is retired Army/Airforce from WW2 and Korea. Man that guy had some stories and never once felt sorry form me when I left on a deployment. Well, he and other vets I know seem like the hve been well treated. but again, I think it depends on what facility you use.
Take care brother - Reply to this comment
- NavyChief,,,, Good to hear it,, I'm sure thier's more like you.. Still way to many Yes Men & little experiance because of rapid adancements...
. Our's was so bad, I told my CO to stick the E-7 exam up his asss finally after passing it 3 times.. I didn't want to be in a position of holding reville in the goat locker 3 times a day & shaking them by thier anchors. - Reply to this comment
- tejasdemo,
Been in for 17 a half years and counting. I have never been screwed by the service as you describe. The navy has been good to me and my family has always been well taken care of. Have you ever served? If so What makes you feel like that? - Reply to this comment
Usmcvn,,, I never wanted to be Chief, retired as an E-6 --- I was impressed by the ones who actually got things done, the career E-5's & E-6's... Our Chiefs, you had to pull them out of the clubs or a poker game, & still ended up doing thier jobs
j-whitman,
NO one ever had to pull me out of a club or do my job. What you are describing is the difference between an E7 and a Chief. I am a Chief!
P.S.
Thank You for your service!- Reply to this comment
- Tjasdemo,,, True, but, it really is a good place to learn about the real life world & affaires, you can see how both parties really don't support them either as they need, especially this current party in the White House.
