Comments on: Panel Fears Problems Go Beyond Walter Reed
Chair Of House Subcommittee Says Similar Problems Are Likely At Other Military Hospitals
- Who says the government is not cost efficient? It is much cheaper to bury our veteran's in a national cemetary, than take care of them! After all the best years of thier lives is shot anyway! As a veteran fighting for survival since the 60's in St Louis with the system, I just feel that way sometimes. I know I am not the only one! I just wish, b4 I die, that the morals, the determination of the American Spirit, & the place of honor our veteran's once had, would return!

- My family has been here since 1710. Longer, on my mother's side! Someone in my family has served in uniform in every wartime,& in peace we have ever had. It is so sad that we have allowed our "so called elected servants of the people" dragged us down so low. Our Veterans are heroes, weather fighting in battle, or serving at home. To mistreat, & neglect them is a crime equal tom treason in my book. There is "NO!" excuse. saying, "SORRY!" is not acceptable! Yes, it gets worse! Start checking the 2 VA hospitals in St Louis. Check out the incompitance at the St louis Regional office. But beware! They are experts at "White Washing" the facts. Please America. We veterans only ask what was promised!

- Around year 2000 or 2001 a new director came to the Augusta, GA Veteran's Hospital and recieved huge performance bonuses for saving money (cutting veteran's services).
While on active duty I was a patient at Walter Reed in 1997 and it was a nightmare then.
I had health problems from Desert Storm but was nearly thrown out of the Army after 17 1/2 years for being a "malingerer".
While healthy I was a hero and considered useful to the Army, after I got sick I was liability to the Army to be gotten rid of. - Reply to this comment

Looks like when the troops are done fighting in Iraq they have to come here and fight for the care they were promised before they went.

I love the way Republicans say that critisizing Bush's staggering incompetence and failure hurts troop moral while he and his rubber-stamp Congress cut funding to the VA in a time of war.

- Okay, so the House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee, chaired by Rep. Tierney, had a hearing today, 5 March 2007. And, all the generals could do was give apologies. No way would I accept them since, except for Gen. Weightman, all the horrors happened on his predecessors watch. It is about time for Congress to realize that you cannot send money to other countries without things breaking down at home which is what has happened to the military health care system. Sure CHARITY is good, but it also BEGINS AT HOME!! I saw where Bush wants to send more money to South America for what I don't know but that money could be used to at least start fixing the military health care system to include the VA. I know of only a few people that have received good care in an army hospital but that is only a few. And, for goodness sake get some decent QUALIFIED doctors to take care of our veterans and active duty soldiers.

- my first pap exam in a military hospital, the nurse was struggling with that thingy they insert when she said,"Man, this thing is rusty!"
i'm lucky my son and i survived his birth in a military hospital, among many things that were bizarre, the reject that was getting blood from his heal poked his tiny little foot 40 times without getting so much as a drop of blood!
army hospitals are a *** shoot and the troops deserve better! hey, i'm a liberal and i think so!
in addition, was anyone else disappointed that there was no comment section on the cheney blood clot story??? god, i never hoped for a blood clot to fulfill it's fate more than i have today!!!!!!!!! - Reply to this comment

- It is the entire circumstance that concerns me, not the small window which peers in upon it.
