Conservative Group Says Ex-Vice President Isn't "Walking The Walk" Of An Environmentalist
- teeus: I didn't watch it but I am happy these people are true to thier cause. But then again maybe if they all rode in the same limo they would be more efficent than taking a bunch of hybrids. There is no one answer. I still like my hybrid limo Idea. Maybe they should ride bikes like the NAvyChief

- "Gore's consumtion numbers are not normal or average to the majority of middle class Americans."
Well, no. Perhaps because Mr. Gore and his house are decidedly NOT MIDDLECLASS? Not really fair to compare apples to bananas.
I'll bet the Bush family Manse in Kennebunkport consumes more than your average middle-class family home, too. But I'll bet that they are not carbon-neutral, or anywhere close. Not that I know this for a fact. I'm just speculating. - Reply to this comment
- Is it possilbe you didn't notice all most all of them fly in private jets? That each was given a free pass to consume 100,000 lbs of carbon footprint by a company who uses the money to fund green energy sources? So your celebrities are now causing others to pay a higher fee so they can say they are green?
And why is consuming vast amounts of EXPENSIVE green power (as the article claims justifies Mr. Gores outragious consumption) considered OK?? Wouldn't reduced use of green power mean others could also use some - and then fewer wind farms (like the ones Marthas Vinyard refuses to license) ? - Reply to this comment
- 3497,
that was just his electric bill. His gas bill averaged $1,080 a month. So he is spending about $2400 a month on average. So that would work out to about $480 for a 2000 square foot house. More than double what you pay. I spend about 200-280 for gas and electric combined for an 1800 square foot house (depnding on the time of year. Granted, I don't have a heated pool, security gates or a guest house either. - Reply to this comment
- But I also don't go around the world advocating that people reduce their consumption of electricity and fuels while I fly in a private jet, get rides in huge limos and burn $2,300 a month of utility bills.
NO, I'LL SURE BET YOU DON'T SCOOTER, BUT I'LL BET YOU WOULD LIKE TO!! - Reply to this comment
- "Why does CO2, currently only ~.6% of the atmospheric composition (and that as a result of ~30% increase in CO2 over the last 120 years) cause the globe to warm? The amount of CO2 is sooooo small that even if it absorbed 5x the amount of energy it does - the impact would still be immeasurable with respect to the total heat on the planet."

This is the inconvenient truth that political climate experts don't want to discuss.
But it would be nice to hear a response to jimmyc's post. - Reply to this comment

- cbscrash07 - you said "davek455: One should lead through example otherwise one is a hypocrit." If only those who are "perfect" take the lead, then no one would ever lead. I'm concerned that this call for perfection (whose definition of perfection is right? It's very subjective) of those who dare take risks and lead, that it will prevent a lot of good people from trying to make a difference, and then we all suffer.

- Do you guys think Al Gore is poor?
How old is his money?
He's not trying to be invidious.
Why do you think you can compare yourself to Al Gore? He's rich, your probably not.
Jealous much?
I prefer you Gore haters keep your blinders on. - Reply to this comment
- NOTBLUE: "I didn't notice any stars on Oscar night get out of hybrid cars just huge gas guzzling limos, it's really amazing!"
No, what's really amazing is how you are taking a completely unsubstantiated opinion and passing it off as a fact:
"Among those opting for hybrid cars are nominees Leonardo DiCaprio, Natalie Portman and Morgan Freeman. They are joining other celebrities who plan to arrive at the Kodak Theater on Sunday in Toyota Prius hybrids instead of gas-guzzling limousines. "With global warming threatening us all, driving a fuel efficient car like a hybrid is something that everybody can do to protect our planet," said actor Salma Hayek, who will be a presenter at this year's awards ceremony Sunday. "I am proud to do my part: I personally own and drive a hybrid car -- and I love it!"
Oscar presenters Scarlett Johansson, Charliz Theron, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim Robbins, Orlando Bloom, Robin Williams and Penelope Cruz will also be driving the hybrid vehicles."
