Comments on: Why Should Hillary Apologize On Iraq?
Refusal To Recant '02 Vote May Serve Clinton Well In The Long Run
- SharnCedar,
I'm no Hillary fan, but come on! The real horror movie has been unfolding over the last 6 years! - Reply to this comment
- She needs to apologize for so many things, there is hardly time left for her to run before 2016

- "So you just do your job to the best of your ability Mrs Clinton"
What exactly is her job? I mean before she stole a Senate seat from a state where she has never been a resident? Wasn't she a lawyer or something, yes, we would all be better off if she would just do her job, whatever it is. Perhaps as a soul model for pure ugliness, a model of a stained and immoral soul, for artists to create horror fiction based upon. - Reply to this comment
- I would really vote for any of the Democratic candidates except for Joe Biden (who has no chance of getting nominated anyway), EVEN Hillary. And I think Barack Obama will motivate inactive voters to the polls. But I also feel that way about John Edwards, who I believe has tapped into progressive populism with a passion that I haven't seen since Robert F. Kennedy. ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN. For a political junkie like me, 2008 is going to be a very interesting year!

- To all those who believe Hillary will snatch the Democratic nomination, remember this: The conventional wisdom in 2003 was that Howard Dean would have a cakewalk to the Democratic nomination. The same was true for Paul Tsongas in 1991. 11 months is a very long time in American politics. Anything can happen.

- As PG Wodehouse said:
"It is a good rule in life never to apologize. The right sort of people do not want apologies, and the wrong sort take a mean advantage of them."
So you just do your job to the best of your ability Mrs Clinton, apologizing politicians never sound genuine. - Reply to this comment

- Has America become an oligarchy, an aristocracy, or a plutocracy? I'm having trouble figuring it out. Anyone?

It was a democracy (and could be again) but right now it's much closer to an aristocracy and getting closer to the point of no return by the day. They main goal of the war in Iraq was not about freedom or 9-11 or democracy or anything as commonplace as that. It was and is a method of transferring huge amounts of cash from the American taxpayers into the bank accounts of the mega rich. The extreme upper class has made a move in a class war against everyone else. The goal is to have 2 classes of people, them and those who serve them in one way or another (all of the rest of us). Fact is it already looks like it's too late. They won. We lost. - Reply to this comment

- Where does ramos937's "insider information" come from? How do they know who read or didn't read what?
Those who voted against or for may have done so for a variety of nuanced reasons, including political considerations, as well as the "justifications". Lawyers sometimes call this "burying someone in paper".
Apparently the american public didn't read ANY of it, because their responsibilty as citizens would have been to contact their sentators and Representatives as I did, and tell them to vote no.
Almost nobody did....
Americans was frightened by the reports, as they were intended to be, yet they sat idly by, buying those bumper stickers.

- Hilliary should definitely apologoize for her Iraq vote. My reasoning is simple. The Administration provided both the Senate and the House extensive documentation justifying the war resolution. A number of Representatives and Senators actually read the material. They voted no. Hilliary and others did not study the material and voted yes. The moral is read what you are sent. If you personally do not read it, have your staff do so and then brief you.
She should apologize because she did not read the material nor did she have her staff read it. - Reply to this comment
