Comments on: Bush Insists Iran Sending Arms To Iraq
But President Says He Doesn't Know If Top Iranian Leaders Are Responsible
- In the morning during the vietnam war, we'd get up and start out wondering where the enemy was. You couldn't see him but you knew he was there. He didn't look any different than the "good guys" you were supposed to be fighting for. The problem. They were to interested in just surviving to care which one "won". As I neared the end of my tour of duty in country and my friends did the same, we were told to go out with the RVN Army to secure this area. It wasn't long before we came under fire and we assumed the RVN Troops with us would perform as we had trained them. They did... the problem was they did in support of the VC. This cost the lives of Two very brave American's. It was then that I realized that NO matter how many of my Brothers fell, no matter how much money we put into the place, we could NOT "Give" our system to these folks. It's so sad that SOME were under a Bar during this time and NEVER learned anything from it. It's also, disgusting that those who use things like this to gain an advantage, to gain for Corporate Greed, will sacrifice brave young American's for their Party. I have fought Religious Extremist in this nation for my entire life. There are so many more like me. The people in General know we must fight to keep the Church and State Seperate and that is the KEY! We are willing to fight for that, these people are NOT. No amount of weapons will ever change that FACT!! Combat Vet, USMC, Chu Lai, RVN, 1968

- Even if Iran were supplying weapons to Iraqi insurgents it isn't anything we haven't done in the past! We supplyed the freedom fighters in Afganistan weapons when they were at war with Russia! We supplied Iraq with weapons when they were fighting the Iranian's! This is to be expected! Bush is desperately looking for a scapegoat to blame his failures in Iraq on! Iran is the most likely one to blame!

Some further info on Martin Indyk:
Martin Indyk is an American diplomat and former United States ambassador to Israel. He worked as a research director for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a pro-Israel lobbying group in Washington. Following his stint at AIPAC, Indyk served eight years as the founding Executive Director of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a research institute specializing in Arab-Israel relations.
He taught at the Middle East Institute at Columbia University, the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies at Tel Aviv University, and the Department of Politics at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. Indyk has published widely on U.S. policy toward the Arab-Israeli peace process, on U.S.-Israeli relations, and on the threats of Middle East stability posed by Iraq and Iran.
He served as special assistant to U.S. President Bill Clinton and as senior director of Near East and South Asian Affairs at the United States National Security Council. He was a senior member of Secretary of State Warren Christopher's Middle East peace team.
What%u2019s puzzling is that although he was involved with AIPAC, and has some associations with Richard Perle, et al, he also seems to be associated with more moderate and center to left organizations and people. He may be someone to be wary about and/or someone to give a listen to. I%u2019m not sure right now, but I%u2019ll be checking out some of his work and writing. - Reply to this comment

- America has done the same thing many times in its history, i.e. arming fighters around the world that we feel is in our interest. Hypocracy abounds.

As Reagan once said %u201CThere you go again.%u201D
Guess what numbnuts? It is an absolute certainty that arms and explosives are being sent into Iraq from Iran. It is an absolute certainty that arms and explosives are also coming from Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Yemen, Russia, China, and even the USA, I%u2019ll bet.
Why is that happening?
Because you started this filthy mess. You lit the fuse. You went after the wrong target. Now we have every religious Islamic nutjob out to get us in Iraq. They will buy or be given anything they can get their hands on from anyone that will supply it to them. All because you Had to have your pathetic neocon Kool-Aid PNAC fantasy. We have lost over 3,000 good brave Americans because of you and Darth%u2019s treasonous scheme.
If we are lucky we won%u2019t see a mushroom cloud over a US city. Not because you stopped it, but because the People stopped you and threw you in jail. - Reply to this comment
- "This is a good first step. There's a lot of work to be done to make sure the commitments made in this agreement become reality," he said.
A step that could have been taken 5 years ago by Bush before N. Korea built their nuke arsenal...more Bush brilliance. - Reply to this comment
