According to most legal scholars, the president can declassify information without approval or oversight. As can those he designates to do so.

Cheney's defense is that he was authorized to reveal Plame as a covert CIA agent because Bozo Bush authorized him to do so.

That's their story and they're sticking to it. Highyly improper, unethical and grounds for impeachment, yes; unlawful or prosecutable, no.

Thanks tucker,
I still wonder if leaking secret identities is aiding an enemy though?

Add in that they are using our tax dollars to be pedophiles and those that hide them, really irks me. Sorry for my stinging rants about this reich. It will be hard to ever forgive their crimes.

Steve,

Treason has a specific definition that would be hard to apply to George Bush or anyone else at the current time. It refers to giving aid and comfort to our enemies. Which implies that it refers to during times of war and since the US has not been at war since 1945, treason would not seem to apply.

From my viewpoint, the GOP is the primary enemy of the US Constitution & American people, so anyone who supports the GOP is guilty of treason. But, that opinion would probably not favorably impress a court.

Conspiracy to commit capital murder is a death penalty offense and that's good enough for me.

This is just the beginning. Rats like these always roll over on the rats above them, right on up the ladder. Let's hope we set a record for the most people sent to prison in one administration, with at least as high as the VP going in. It's more then one can hope for true, but one can still hope Bush himself ends up in prison. All this war was ever about was greed and ego, so it's time to put the greedy basta*rds behind bars for good! Either that or hang the SOB's!

"This is indeed another example of Bush/Cheney putting the wrong people in positions of authority, for the wrong reasons"

Pakaal, we may think of adding Condolezzie Rice a Roni in there too. Wonder why she holds an office?
Hmmm.....

It's hard to blame these so-called 'thieves'.

If America's wealth is being wasted, then it makes good sense to catch the hundred dollar bills as they fall to the greedy and wealthy.

When the Debt-creating Reagan gang was squandering America's treasury (in the same way that his present successor in Squander and Debt-creating is doing) greedy republican thieves were ALSO catching the falling hundred American dollar bills that were begin wasted on the rich.
