We could use some comedic relief in the Senate. It is already a joke, but no one is laughing. Al could change that.

Al is a smart guy, he wouldn't be doing this if the odds weren't in his favor.

Al Franken!!! For the good of this country and the Democrat Party,I hope that this is a joke. The last thing the Democrat party needs is another Socialist/Marxist/Leninist in its midst.

What ever happened to the old Democrat concept of "Ask not what your country can do for you, but rather what YOU can do for your country"??

A fine conservative Norm Coleman turned out to be--backing a bill to prevent California from passing state laws about energy use. What ever happened to "small government" conservatives? The neo-cons just love big, jack-booted government interfering in people's lives. Let's call the neocons what they really are--fascists. Bushit is America's Mussolini. Franken wouldn't be my first choice to replace Coleman, but rousting that clown Norman out of our state's delegation is high on my list.

"If you voted for the liberals that help start this war, the blood of this conflict is on your hands as well as theirs. Hypocrite"

Incorrect. Even if you voted for people who supported the war and/or supported the war yourself, it is possible to realize a mistake was made and you can reverse yourself with a clear conscience. It's those who, despite all the facts now known, continue to support the war that have blood on their hands. People can make mistakes. Bush can make a mistake. It's continuing to perpetrate that mistake with full knowledge that is the unforgivable sin here.

The news that Franken has decided to run for the Senate was not unexpected. Franken has been calling members of the Minnesota congressional delegation to get their input on a run, and he announced this week that he would be leaving his show on Air America Radio on Feb. 14. He told listeners he would be making a decision on a race soon.

This is bull**** liberal lies. Air America went bankroupt! he's got no place else to go.

It is common knowledge that Iraqi units are infiltrated by all types of Insurgents, Terrorist, and Execution Death Squads members of Both Religions. The Sunni supported by Saudi Arabia who are killing most of American troops, and Shiite supported by Iran. Those people who support this Surge of Troops in Iraq are forcing American Soldiers to sleep with the enemy in small units exposing them to undue kidnap threat. Americans soldiers who are captured by these enemies are without mercy, tortured and mutilated beyond recognition by their captors. Still our political leadership is planning to send these Brave Men and Women in to this environment. Would those Neocons or Chicken Hawks that pushed so hard for America to go into this war like to volunteer to live with death squad members? If American proceeds with this deployment our troops will be kidnapped and America will see such beheadings, torture and captivity that have never been seen before on Cable, Internet, and National Television. If you support this surge in troops and the tactics it brings you are responsible for every one of these deaths. Be prepared to watch American men and women begging for their lives on television while they are decapitated. Here is the contact address for your Senator! Send them a message of your opinion. All Class Two Senators are up for Reelection in 2008. http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_in

Just one thing, why does he feel the need to curse so much?

Posted by janem4 at 10:11 PM : Jan 31, 2007

He can't help it. When speaking about murdering liars on the far right like Bush and Cheney cursing just comes out. It's a natural reaction to disgusting people.

JaneM: We can advise you but you must at least check it out to truly understand. Read Franken's book: Lies, and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them. Despite what you might have heard, the book uses detailed facts to illustrate the techniques used by O'Reilly and FOX. Franken assembled a team of college students to research what appeared as news. They debunked, with factual evidence lie and mistruth after lie and mistruth. But you have to go out on a limb and actually read it before you could truly understand. Read Franken's book, watched the documentary OUTFOXED with an open mind, and you will truly come away from the experience with an enlightened perspective. If you have a conscience you would take me up on the offer. In the immortal words of Buffalo Springfield: "For What It's Worth."

This is great news, though it's hardly a surprise. And he will continue to make politics entertaining. He well deserves Paul Wellstone's seat, but I agree with the poster who will miss him on the radio. I've learned so much from him, since he's both incredibly informed and well-spoken.

Despite righty ragings, Al Franken is centrist and a great supporter of the USO, making many trips oversees to entertain the troops. Which is more than so-called patriots like Hannity and Limbaugh do.

Al Franken!!! For the good of this country and the Democrat Party,I hope that this is a joke. The last thing the Democrat party needs is another Socialist/Marxist/Leninist in its midst.

Here we go! Let the smear begin. Of course, if you have ever read or listened to Al Franken you would know him to be incredibly bright, articulate, and well-researched. The last component proves to be so rare these days. O'Reilly, Limbaugh, and their ink use the McCarthyesque techniques of insinuation and innuendo. Limbaugh will coin such phrases as "Halfrican" to subtly smear someone like Barrack Obama. What Franken does he compile facts and intelligently discuss issues with experts. His wit and humor always contain a biting edge of realism. Go ahead and get the character assassination team fired up. Any sucker like Norm Coleman who has to actually debate Franken on policy, issues, and real American values will be torn to shreds. Here's to hoping Minnesota has enough of a independence streak to allow true intelligent debate before deciding on a senator.

If there's one thing that scares you spoonfed every word, syllable, phrase, god only knows the scary things you'd do with a real idea of your own neocorns; is a man or woman who can think for themselves. A person who can think and laugh at the same time really blows you limp peters away-oink squealllll righties, we are laughing at your pathetic damaged existences, sure the hell not with them...
