Bush also took aim and the press:

Does President Bush have it in for the press corps? Touring a Caterpillar factory in Peoria, Ill., the Commander in Chief got behind the wheel of a giant tractor and played chicken with a few wayward reporters.

Wearing a pair of stylish safety glasses--at least more stylish than most safety glasses--Bush got a mini-tour of the factory before delivering remarks on the economy. "I would suggest moving back," Bush said as he climbed into the cab of a massive D-10 tractor. "I'm about to crank this sucker up."

As the engine roared to life, White House staffers tried to steer the press corps to safety, but when the tractor lurched forward, they too were forced to scramble for safety."Get out of the way!" a news photographer yelled. "I think he might run us over!" said another. White House aides tried to herd the reporters the right way without getting run over themselves.

Even the Secret Service got involved, as one agent began yelling at reporters to get clear of the tractor. Watching the chaos below, Bush looked out the tractor's window and laughed, steering the massive machine into the spot where most of the press corps had been positioned.

The episode lasted about a minute, and Bush was still laughing when he pulled to a stop.

Dukakais and the tank revisited....

Senator Webb D VA. took aim at CEO salaries after Bush's fantasy of lies in his annual State of Denial Speech. But did Webb get this kind of media coverage from the Fascist right winged media? Of course he didn't.

This is exactly why the "fired" Generals on the ground objected to putting more troops in Harms Way and why they are dubious about "partnering" with the IRAQI troops - This was probably an inside job!
The Military Brass want to hide these events to try and distort the realities of this Civil War in IRAQ. US TROOPS are viewed as "occupiers" no longer liberators... and thus, just as much a problem as the insurgents to the ultimate stability of their country!
These are IRAQI citizens people and whether you want to label them "yankess" or "rebs" neither of them are Americans and it is their destiny to decide the fate of their country!
You read the reports about IRANIANS traing Shia Militia and in IRAN and the other 100 Muslim Nations you read about the US Training Shia Security Forces - PLEASE TELL ME THE DIFFERENCE!!!
This is the type of deceit that Bush has been shielding from America for over four years in order to keep US Support behind Keeping our Soldiers in HARMS WAY - with Cheerleaders like Cheney saying on CNN - that we are making enormous progress in IRAQ - STATE of DENIAL!

How Tragically SAD!

BUSH, the USA's CODEPENDENT PREZ of FASCIST TRAITORS is now taking a lesson from Bill Clinton, who swung right soon after the GOPigs took control of Congress in 1994. Bush has all the classic signs of the typical non-recovered alcoholic, which is on display everyday this fascist gets press coverage, brining more shame to the USA to every country in the internationl community.

Which part do you hate more Bush haters: 49 qtrs of GDP growth, 4.6% unempl, or historical low and stable interest rates?
Posted by badaxmofo

BADAXMOFO: What part do we hate? We hate the part about Clinton creating 22 million jobs and handing Bush four years of a budget surplus. We hate Bush turning around and creating the largest deficits in our history. We hate losing one in five manufacturing jobs. We hate record trade deficits, outsourcing jobs and being rewarded for it, moving "your corporate offices" to the Caymans for tax purposes, CEO pay being 400 times worker pay.

Keep spouting your right-wing talking points and you go from being BADAXMOFO to something more accurate: DUMBASSMOFO

It's when adminstrations open countelss legal loopholes for the extremely wealthy to "avoid" the lion's share of taxes that it becomes unethical, not in the avoidance but in the creation of the policies that turn evasion into avoidance.

Linfister, one primary purpose of progressive taxation is to provide an incentive for wealthier Americans to create jobs for Americans.

Avoiding taxes is what every person should be doing and the primary reason the tax code was developed the way it was.

Evading taxes is unlawful; avoiding is good business.

tuckerndfw-powerful stuff. I commend you for your honesty. It is economically analagous in relation to the bush administration as a war veteran's comments are on the Iraq war. It has the ring of truth about it.

Everyone wants to keep the money they've earned. I take isue with you Tucker, for using loopholes in our system that allowed you to steal the money out of the US coffers and call it ... what did you say? "Avoid" paying most of your taxes. Shame on you. Shame on the Government that misuses our hard earned money too. It's all corrupt.

Divernni,

Several states, including Texas, have no state income tax. It appears your figures are incorrect. You must have gotten that propaganda from some far right wing, radical extremist organization such as the GOP.

There is zero valid comparison between salary & benefits and gambling proceeds.

Based on that comparison, are you suggesting that the CEO's are winning their paychecks entirely at random? And, those who do not receive such exorbitant, unearned winnings are losers?

I am currently retired. While working at a fairly high paying career during the years when taxes were levied on higher incomes, I always had at least one small business (other than my primary career), usually two or three, that I used to avoid (not evade) taxation.

Although it required time, effort & did not recover 100% of the money I would have paid in taxes, it did allow me the opportunity to be creative with how I used my money.

I support that system because it provides the incentives for wealthier people to create jobs for Americans.

I do not support a system that allows greedy robber barons with the opportunity to avail themselves of services provided by all US taxpayers and then "invest" their unearned & undeserved money overseas, or squirrel it away where it does no good for anyone.

Robber barons are as much a menace to "free" society as terrorists.
