Singingrick:

I can appreciate you having faith. That is a good thing. This country was based on freedom of religion. That implies we also have freedom FROM religion, if we so chose.

However, I have noticed that you very quickly wander from the content of the forum and turning it into a discussion of Darwin and science vs God and creationism. You have been doing this for quite a while now and it is frankly getting tiresome.

If I was normally suspicious and untrusting, I would think this is being done on purpose to derail the discussion at hand. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and politely request that you keep you faith a personal matter and confine your discussion to the contents of the article to which the forum is attached. Proselytizing is basically very rude. Please stop.

"The enemy has declared "jihad" against us and Iraq is their chosen turf to fight us right now."

I'm sorry, but what a load of hooey.

Yes, some Islamic extremists have declared jihad, just as some Christian extremists are determined to wipe out all Muslims. (By the way, if you are keeping score, our fundamemtalist loonies are way ahead in total deaths caused.)

However: Iraq is NOT their "chosen turf to fight us." WE INVADED THAT COUNTRY. Iraq was not engaged in any hostilities against us, did not have WMDs and was not involved in 9/11.

Your statement is, frankly, just plain stupid and non-factual. We picked the battleground, and we made the fight. The people fighting us are fighting a foreign invader. We, the wonderful US, are squarely in the wrong for being there.

Al Quaeda was based in Afghansistan. No one had a problem with us going in there, but we couldn't be bothered to finish the job because (in the words of that unspeakable cretin in the White House) finding Osama is "not that important".

Of course, there's no oil in Afghanistan, is there?

None so blind as those who will not see. You say "support the troops" and yet you are ok with their lives being thrown away by a lying lunatic.

"Open your eyes and see reality for a minute. We have to destroy the facist before they attempt to destroy us again."

I agree idiot... But it's precisely because my eyes are open that I can see how the quagmire in Iraq detracts from that very goal.

"If we as a people had this attitude for our (also unpopular) president during WWII, we would have lost the war and we would be either dead or speaking German or Japanese now."

FDR was not unpopular. He was elected to 3 terms (and in fact was the reason for term limits).

And WWII was not the same type of war. The Japanese attacked us militarily. The Iraqis have not. Germany declared war on us. The Iraqis have not. Both Japan and Germany were massive military powers posing a genuine global threat. The Iraqis are not.

We can best support the troops by not sending them to die so some lying filth can become richer.

Bush: "I'm The Decision Maker" On Iraq.

HA! HA! HA!... this liar is the biggest ever. He now suffers of Alzheimer so accutely. He never knew how to give an order. He has never succeeded in anything but lying to the face of fellow US citizens.

"If mankind can come up with fabulous inventions and modern marvels, don't you think that a Supreme being called GOD could've easily created the universe???"

If man can come up with fabulous inventions and modern marvels, couldn't he have created the idea of God?

huskerarmy, get a grip... I don't agree with where we are in Iraq now either... however, the gauntlet has been thrown by our enemy... and the enemy isn't the President. Open your eyes and see reality for a minute. We have to destroy the facist before they attempt to destroy us again.

""there is a madman in Washington ready to invade yet another small soverign nation for it's oil."

-oh really inventagod?

I must've been hearing things during the State of the Union speech the other night when the president said "We need to stop relying on foreign oil."

yes you were, Rick ... those things are called "politically convenient lies".

Or perhaps the President was admitting that he actually intends to conquer Iraq and Iran and make them part of the US so that they can supply us "domestoc" oil?

No actually he's said something to that effect in every one of his SOU speeches. Then Cheney calls on his Oil Company buddies to help write the presidents energy policy.

The way a lot of us Americans are acting on the Iraq issue is disturbing.
I understand why a lot of people don't like Bush - I don't either. But we are limited in our options right now so we need to ACCEPT the situation we are stuck with and stand behind our brave sons & daughters that are on the front line in Iraq fighting for ALL of us. We need to support them as best we can and harping about pulling them out is definitely bad for their morale. If we as a people had this attitude for our (also unpopular) president during WWII, we would have lost the war and we would be either dead or speaking German or Japanese now.
We need to work together and put all of our efforts into winning the war against the Islamic extremists in Iraq. The enemy has declared "jihad" against us and Iraq is their chosen turf to fight us right now. We NEED to win so that they don't continue to fight us with their terror tactics on our own soil. I have no desire to be banging my head on a rug in an Islamic America.

"What makes you believe we just popped out of nowhere for no reason in the first place from an unintelligent piece of pond scum?"

So is it a choice between existence without a purpose or existence without an explaination?

It is very interesting that three of the major religions of the world find their origin in the same person... Abraham. Islam, Judaism, and Christianity all have the same roots... From there, man has taken religious beliefs in different directions....
Just think, if Abraham hadn't humped his concubine and had Ishmael, we wouldn't be having all this war between the Muslims, Jews and Christians... or would we?

Can we all agree that we shouldn't allow the sheer will to belive in a thing to outweigh reason, logic and empirical evidence? Oh nevermind...

Hey, you guys bashing Rick and his beliefs; if you want to disagree with him, cool. I often do myself. But have you ever noticed that he doesn't abuse or insult people or their beliefs; he just states his own?

You might extend the same courtesy.

It's his "Holier then thou" attitude that pisses people off and why he deserves no respect. Sorry jimibear, I agree with you most of the time, but not here. This guy invites attacks.
