generial -

A united Iraq became a stricly historical term once the invasion took place. It has not been united since, nor will it ever be again.

It will disentegrate into secular states regardless of what we do now, just as the former Yugoslavia did when it's dictator no longer was there to keep it cobbled together.

Maybe that's a truth that you refuse to accept, but it is the truth nonetheless.

come on sarge, you know that it's kinda fun. While we all enjoy stimulating, informed debate we get to reach over and slap the idiot once in a while.

do you people really think that if we withdraw united states troops from Iraq the situation will come under control ? It won't it will only get worse and if we retreat we will be deserting the people of iraq and their views on us will get worst. so i think that the USA should send more troops in iraq to help control the situation. american and coalition troops should stay in iraq until the new Iraqi goverment and the new iraqi army can effectively control the country.

GW Bush has a set of b*lls - it's just that Laura likes to wear them for him.

I was referring mainly to the part regarding intelligence.

either stand up and offer a solution, or support the one in place.

Do you contend for one second, considering that Iraq has been in chaos for four years now with this strategy, that this approach is working somehow?

If so, I'd be more than interested in hearing the basis for such an appraisal.

Please outline the 'in place' plan that you are so gung-ho to support.

mcdazz-

When I think about how difficult his existence must surely be, considering his approach to others, I really do feel sorry for him.

However, that does not translate into my cutting him any slack.

Hagel was impressive. Weird though, a republican with a set of b*lls and an intelligent message. Can't help but be suspicious.

This tactic has about as much chance to succeed as this administration has of successfully pawning off this relatively minor troop increase as a "new plan."

"There is no way to win with this strategy" is what Hagel should have said.

The truth is that a competent guerilla force with the support of the local populace will never be defeated by a standing army, regardless of how much power is projected.

The USSR tried for 12 years to defeat the guerillas in Afghanistan and then realized it would never happen and packed up and went home.

We tried unsucessfully for 20 years in Viet Nam to win with the same defective strategy and then packed up and came home.

Guatemala's guerillas sucessfully fought for 36 years before sitting down at the negotiating table.

The Phillipines and Colombia have been failing at the strategy for 40 years now.

But Bubba/Cheney/Rice and the rest of the NeoCons think it will be different for us. It won't, regardless of how much they insist it will be.

Lieberman,

There's a story today about an old KKKer who has finally met with justice. Why not grab your bars and stripes and run over there to defend him?

"There is no strategy. This is a ping-pong game with American lives," said Republican Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska.

Wow the Ol'Chuckster really has some u know what's. Feels good to see not every repub is following their DICKtator Bush. People like Hagel will be the ones that bring us all back together. They put away their party and speak from their own minds and hearts.
