Ververs: Despite Talking Points in President's Speech, War Still Dominates Political Debate

Against all hope, I watched the president%u2019s speech last night.

When he was done, I was profoundly disappointed. He threw out a few feel good tidbits about energy, which, considering his track record, were hypocritical at best. As for health care, another attempt to keep insurance and drug companies rolling in dough while sick people languish and are impoverished. For the past 6 years, He and his administration abandoned their appointed roles as leaders of this country to be the obedient servants of the oil, health insurance, drug companies, K Street and Wall Street.,

As for supporting the troops in Iraq, this president, his vice president, and his former Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, were AWOL. Planning for the aftermath was restricted to the logistics for a photop landing on an aircraft carrier and a brave speech in front of a large banner. From the onset, there were insufficient troops, unarmored vehicles, unsecured ammo dumps, no translators, no standing orders to control looting and mayhem, and little sense of urgency regarding rebuilding the country. The only urgency seen was in the speed in awarding no-bid contracts to the vice president%u2019s former business partners at Haliburton.

Another chance to make the war work? Sorry George, we can%u2019t afford to kill more brave service men and women for your ego or your legacy. You had plenty of time and resources and you wasted them all. And speaking of waste, your speech was a waste of time.

More of the same old bullsh*t, I still think we need to impeach Darth Cheney and Shrub the Dumbnificent. Their lies and deceit got us in this morass and we need to get them behind us to find a way out. I'm tired of them trying to tie the war on terror to Iraq......where's Osma??

"We have seen what happens when you let the big private insurance providers and the big pharmaceutical companies make the rules."

j0hnwi11iams,
And yet so many GOPers continue to trust the Insurance and Drug companies to do what's in our best interest... It boggles the mind that so many americans continue to drink the koolaid that the plutocrats serve them.

It is common knowledge that Iraqi units are infiltrated by all types of Insurgents, Terrorist, and Execution Death Squads members of Both Religions. Those people who support this Surge of Troops in Iraq are forcing American Soldiers to sleep with the enemy in small units exposing them to undue kidnap threat. Americans soldiers who are captured by these enemies are without mercy, tortured and mutilated beyond recognition by their captors. Still our political leadership are planning to send these Brave Men and Women in to this environment. If American proceeds with this deployment and breaks down small American Units to live and work with these Iraqi Death Squad Units our troops will be kidnapped and handed over to such beheadings, torture and captivity as has never been seen before on Cable, Internet, and National Television. If you support this surge in troops and the tactics it brings you are responsible for every one of these deaths.

Well Bush did call for a increase in the crude oild stockpile. It wouldn't surprise me if this was coming directly out of Iraq.

I have talked to quite a few military personel in Iraq that have told me stories of actual movie scenes being made to make bush and it's administration look as though they actually give a *** about the soldiers there, but in reality are guarding oil pumps that are taking oil and shipping it during all hours. Several have taken videos of this and a few have reported that their video equipment had been confiscated. The same people say that a lot of propaganda documentaries are being filmed there now. But what puzzles me is the guarding of the oil wells that are producing and moving oil through American shipping.

and just what else can bush change the focus to?

the economy?

terrific debt....

health care?

sweetheart no negotiations deals for drug companies...

gasoline consumption?

what has bush done to become energy independent?

given away billions to oil companies during record profits....

what else is there but the war on terror, but then again it really isn't a war on terror.
Is it???
