Old rule in gambling - don't bet what you can't afford to lose. Maybe we could survive global warming, maybe we couldn't. I'm not going to mess around with it, when we don't have a second earth to go to if we ruin this one! Environmentalism is just pure self-interest for anyone aware of the facts.

Global warming means the whole globe gets hotter. Anyone paying attention to the news knows that global warming shows up as more extreme weather - including freezing weather in California, more and worse hurricanes, floods, droughts and so on and so forth.

Yes, the sun is getting slightly hotter. But not nearly enough to explain the temperature increases on earth. The solar factor will compound the greenhouse gas problem.

Nice try, though.

Out of all the interesting discussions, no one has addressed the fact that the sun is getting hotter. If the sun was getting colder and the earth was getting warmer, there would be the proof of manmade global warming. But, the sun is getting hotter, hence the earth is getting warmer.

huskerarmy: I think Scientist are people too. Some as you said have invested thier entire lifes into this. They are as vested as big oil if not more so. I find the lack of any mention of the increase of solor output from the sun to be extremely daming. I think global warming is happening. I don't know the exact cause. I know that the climate of Earth is extremely complicated. So I tend to doubt over simplistic models. Obviously Co2 acts as a green house gas yet methan CH4 is 20 times more reflective. sources of this include cow flatulance to rotting garbage. Water vapor is also a problem. I think they said the next ice age will be due in 100,000 years so I figure will heat up for the next 50,000. I think the best return for our buck in controlling global warming is a satelite array with solor shades. We would be able to control our planets exposure to solor radiation. They only thing I know for sure is that it is a natural process. In that humans are native to the Earth so any thing we do is natural. Just like the organisms that created the oxygen rich atmosphere. Or the ones that produce algea blooms. Earthlings polute its what we do.
