Hey GOP remember the good old days when the only concerns Congress had were tax relief for the wealthy, gay marriage, and giving themselves raises?

To understand what a contrast Pelosi provides, we need only consider the appalling record of incompetence from Bush and his GOP-led congress. For five years, this congress did not even stir when the TSA kept failing its own airport performance assessments, and US seaport security became a monument to neglect. Congress funded so little seaport infrastructure improvement and provided so little direction about what it expected, the USCG had to postpone submission of port security plans planned for 2003. There was no money provided most US seaports for even security fencing, lighting and other, basic measures-- this, in the heartland our Iraq invasion was supposed to help protect.

Expanded cargo inspections are a desperately needed measure for our current, largely inefffective US seaport security. Embarrassed by even these preliminary strides forward on home front security from the Democrats, Bush and the GOP try to defend their own inertia over the past five years by claiming this is unseemly "haste". Yet, last August, the Rand Corporation reported US seaports were a critical gap in US security and a frightening potential disaster greater than 911.

So much disinformation! Fascism in America grows stronger every day. Anybody remember the book "1984"? Long live the United Police States of America!

That's because Republicans don't know the meaning of either term. They are as clueless as their moronic leader GW Bush.

Port Insecurity-- 2
That same year, congress finally sensed US ports were shockingly vulnerable, but still did nothing to fund improvement. Most cargo entering US ports continued to meet little screening. Effectiveness of the security at even showcase US ports was in doubt after some widely-publicized false positives with expensive equipment. In fact, it was not until December, 2006, that congress funded overseas port screening for radiological agents at only three ports, which Chertoff raised to six-- a small fraction of the coverage needed.

All this ineptitude from 2001 to 2006 in securing the home front was a huge scandal for Bush and the GOP-- the same failure of due diligence expressed in Katrina. Preoccupied with Iraq, the GOP treated US seaport security infrastructure as an unwanted stepchild. Without the foresight, energy and integrity to make a credible effort at homeland security, how can any GOP congressman or Bush afford to be critical of anybody else?

What good are tax cuts when all of the good job are gone? The Dems are accepting status quo, and continue to let our job go by the way side.

The 9/11 bill should have been thrown out. This bill is predicated upon the 9/11 commissions findings. The 9/11 commission was a farce, a joke, another picture painted by the chimp and friends in order to cover up the murder of 3,000 Americans on 9/11.

The Dems need to start a real investigation into 9/11 and find the real truth behind the murders.

Good!

The bill might not mean much at first, but ambitious inventors might think of a way to check those containers. There would be a lot of money in it for them.

But if my butt stays unblown up, I wont be looking a gift horse in the mouth.

And my butt doesn't care if the rest of me is Republican or Democrat. It just likes to stay in one piece.

Wow seems so recent that the only thing Congress was interested in was tax relief for billionares, gay marriage, flag burning and giving themselves raises. What a difference a little regime change makes.

janem4 states:As for the rich, I bet nancy and her vineyard owning hubby have ways to save on paying taxes.
She' talking about her great Bush and the Republican Party has Trillions stashed! Watch DVD Bushes Brain which show how Karl Rove when head of Republican Party ruined anyone who stood in their way of the Democrats so Bush could get into Power! He had to actually teach Bush how government works, like this is what you call a Budget! Because Bush knows nothing about how to govern. He still has office on the other side of the White House. He also orchestrated how Bush got us into Iraq on the lie of Now Weapons of Mass Destruction found! Now we have over 3,005 brave men dead and he wants another 20,000 escalation like Vietnam!

Wow, i smell a breath of fresh air in Washington. That's after 12 years of dark clouds, the sun has parted and Congress leadership actually does things that benefit average americans.

I also liked the sound of the words from a previous post. President Nancy Pelosi!
