Comments on: Dems Won't Rule Out Tax Hike On Wealthy
Pelosi Says Democrats Looking For Way To Pay For Middle-Class Tax Cuts
- To Hermit22 - you mean Pelosi is going to raise taxes on teh wealthy - taxes which she and her family will have to pay?? Do you think these things through?
Oh - and I believe her husband made his money himself - unlike Bush who inherited it. Isn't it amazing that Pelosis who worked for their money are willing to pay higher taxes and the likes of Bush who inherited his money instead of working for it isn't?? - Reply to this comment
- Anybody that thinks I am a fat cat tell you what we do---we go to Nancy Pelosi's home or anyone in Congress home, then we go to my home, you'll see who the fat cats are.

- do the people working for the wealthy Pelosi family businesses make enough income to even be worried about taxes?
CBS needs to make a study of that, and they should have done it BEFORE she wormed her way up the ladder as far as she is. - Reply to this comment
- The Democrats have two years to fix what they said they would fix.
When they don't and I am telling you they won't, you can bet it will be a tough sell for them in 2008. - Reply to this comment
- I can see that some are not informed on the tax cuts that they have received. My family of five makes less than 50K a year and we, like anyone else who has kids and pays taxes, received both cuts as well as reimbursement checks..I am saddened to see that the days of JFK Democrats are completely gone. They understood the value of tax cuts to us all. It also saddens me that the democratic party has not learned the lessons that took them out of power for so many years. And now the moment they have it back they begin down the same paths that lead to there dethroning not so very long ago. These tax hikes and repeals have always been on there agenda. It%u2019s just that noone runs campaigns promising to raise taxes. They should be warned. The only reason they won power back was because of Iraq. And they should focus on supporting that country and finding solutions and not just criticism Or they will loose there new found power again.

Watch what you post, there are some Democrats here who can't stand the truth.
"We're not going to start with repealing tax cuts, but they certainly are not off the table for people making over half a million dollars a year."
Translation----
In order to be "fair" we have to raise taxes on "all" not just a few rich people. - Reply to this comment
- All I could hear during the Democratic campaign was how President Bush gave his rich friends a tax cut and how the Democrats would repeal all tax cuts to the rich.
Now, Quoteing Pelosi above-- "well, we wont rule it out", "we are thinking about it", "We're not going to start with repealing tax cuts", "we will pursue other monies owed by others", "that's not where we'll begin". "It's an option, it's not a first resort".
To all who bought into that Democratic bull shi$ last year, I say, well, I can't say, I am laughing too hard! - Reply to this comment

- Finally, Congress is making some righteous decisions, it%u2019s surely a longtime coming, speaking of fraud they need to first investigate Halliburton, and the other %u201Cwelfare recipients%u201D, the Pentagon has allowed to extricate money out of honest taxpayers. And while they are at it go after Standard Oil, and the other %u201Coil conglomerations%u201D, and use that recoup to finance an alternative oil program. Likewise, impose stiffer fines on these %u201Cpolluters%u201D, and make them responsible for the %u201Cprodigious cleanup cost%u201D. Because groundwater contamination is a huge problem, in which the government has given a %u201Cfree pass%u201D to many of these polluters. And by all means TAX, TAX, TAX, the rich, for it is the middle-class that has been carrying the burden. One more thing set aside more funding for our public schools, instead of financing this bogus war.

- Bush has levied the biggest tax hike ever on everyone, it's a hidden tax hike called "Currency Manipulation" comes right out of your bank account, and savings. The more money they print the more worthless it becomes and that's what he has been doing, this is why inflation has been so high, this is why gas prices are so high. This is how the government used to levy taxes before they created the tax system, they'd just print more money and it'd become more and more worthless... just like politicians...

- The Democrats need to raise taxes on the wealthy, period..isn't it about time the middle class got a break? Why do you think they were voted into office..and they better not forget that..tread carefully dear Dems..we want our kids home from Iraq ,and the little guy to catch some slack.....I mean really do the majority of Americans give a rats behind what the Republicans want? We've had too many years of being under their oppression..

- "Pelosi spoke of pursuing an estimated $300 billion that people owe in back taxes".
Well, that's not the rich, they don't pay anything in the first place.
That's got to be the middle class again, we are the only ones paying taxes. Probably some poor bastar$ that made an honest mistake on their returns. - Reply to this comment
- this is sort of funny.
what happened to the republican (very stringent!) balanced budget?
how do you balance your budget? by eiher reducing spending or increasing income. or some combination.
who was it that took a common sense approach to fiscal policy? was it reagan? or bush sr? no----it turns out that it was the democrat clinton who balanced the budget!
and how did he accomplish it? with common sense. he did what you do with your own. raised income by raising taxes on those making 250,000 or more. 31 (or so) to about 39%. he cut wasteful spending. cut welfare roles. put money in the hands of those who use it to live on by a minimum wage hike and boosted the economy.
did you know that a minimum wage hike returns more to the federal coffers (per dollar invested) than any other?
supply-side has never worked and never will. overfeeding the upper income classes doesn't build an economy either.
how do you build a house (financial or otherwise)? from the penthouse down?----no you build a house from the foundation up. and the foundations are the mixed poor and lower middles incomers. the middle income class is the ground level section and the rich the upper stories, but the foundation supports the whole house!
build only the upper levels and the house is in peril of collapsing (just as today!). wake up republicans. you've been sold a bill of goods extremist elements. use your own common sense. make your representatives work for you and not special interests! - Reply to this comment
- 'pay-go' is the first step towards respondsible government. The GOP would love to keep using the national credit card to finance their payola, but that's about to end thanks to the Nov '06 vote.

Amen--On the local level, some older folks who can't afford their school taxes anymore, are being sheriffed out of the very homes they worked 30 years to pay for.
