Since comparing Republican vs Democrat is an argument which never goes anywhere, let's instead compare Democrat vs Democrat, let's say JF Kennedy vs Clinton(s)

The Clinton(s) philosophy on government is:

1) "Big Government" will take care of you from "cradle to grave" (socialism)

2) Don't worry, "Big Government" will solve all your problems for you

3) It takes a village (Big Government)

Whereas , JF KEnnedy said:

"ask NOT what your country can do for you, but rather what you can do for your country.

These two philosophies (BOTH democrat) are completely opposite of each other.

I would much rather be a JF Kennedy democrat than a Clinton socialist.

Sounds like the NeoCommies (MoveOn.org types) have taken over a democrat party I once knew and repected.

For RandalDS & frankly6 All you have to do is Google "national debt"

The National Debt To the Penny
Current Amount

09/29/2000 $5,674,178,209,886.86
09/30/1999 $5,656,270,901,615.43
09/30/1998 $5,526,193,008,897.62
09/30/1997 $5,413,146,011,397.34
09/30/1996 $5,224,810,939,135.73
09/29/1995 $4,973,982,900,709.39
09/30/1994 $4,692,749,910,013.32
09/30/1993 $4,411,488,883,139.38
09/30/1992 $4,064,620,655,521.66
09/30/1991 $3,665,303,351,697.03

SOURCE: BUREAU OF THE PUBLIC DEBT

Like I said, there was not one year in which the national debt went down during the Clinton Regime. What Clinton DID was dramatically slow down the rate of increase in the national debt...but the fact remains...the national debt INCREASED during the Clinton regime

PS.....National Debt & budget deficits/surplus are two different things

Actually I believe it was bipartisan cooperation between Clinton, the democrats and the republicans that balanced the budget and started us on the road toward paying off the national debt. A policy that Bush the younger abandoned in 2001 when he took control. His policy was and has been to listen to his neocon adviser's and then shove everything down America's throat. Under him the debt has more then tripled and he threw a large budget surplus that he inherited from Clinton away on tax cuts for the rich and insane war of choice in Iraq. What he has done to this country is unforgivable.

does a good job of explaining that Clinton's presidency balanced the budget, but it was Gingrinch and Co who really should reap the rewards.

You guys take that and figure it out.

ok randalds,

after skimming the internet, I've learned there are some big debates about this. some think bush did it, some think he took credit for bill doing it and some say it never happened

gotta love the information age.

I will research before I make statements next time.

Here's another reason you are obviously a modern concervative. Time and time again you will swallow up any old t*rd that comes down the pipe. You don't care where your information comes from or even wheather it's true as long as it agrees with what you already believe.

Dude that's such a load of ***. This stuff is all public record.

During the Clinton years the national deficit was decreasing and in the end we actually had budget surpluses. However, due to cutting taxes on the rich, increasing special earmark and pork-barrel spending, corporate tax givaways, the war etc. the national debt has skyrocketed under Bush and GOP leadership.

reality check:

National Debt in 1992 $5 trillion*

National Debt in 2000 $7 trillion*

*source: NY Times Almanac & Book of Facts

That's right, the national debt AND Government spending NEVER DECREASED from one year to another during the Clinton Regime.

Sorry

No problem. It's always good to check everything out and get news from as many sources as you can before you can decide for yourself what's going on.

I answered your anemic post the first few times you posted it. But since you seldom stick around to see your lame assertions get torn to pieces you wouldn't know that.

What makes you a conservative is the fact that you spew conservative lies and misinformation. What makes you a modern conservative is that you are more interested in idiology than reality.

Fro example:

1) "Big Government" will take care of you from "cradle to grave" (socialism)

Reality check...the federal government actually shrank under Clinton and has grown exponentialy under Bush and the GOP leadership.

If this is the best representation of the conservative view that there is then it's no wonder why the country has run amuck under conservative leadership.

QUESTION

How is me saying "I'd rather be a JF Kennedy DEMOCRAT" make me a conservative ????
