What bugs me is when people lump all Christians in one category. I'm a Christian -- Lutheran specifically, my dad was a pastor, my brother is a pastor, and my son is studying to be a pastor. I am anti-abortion but I am also pro-choice. I don't think it's a legal matter and I don't think that a newly conceived group of cells without a heartbeat can be classified as having a soul, so I don't see early abortion as murder. The bible never mentions abortion. It does mention caring for the poor, treating people as you would yourself, etc. I am sometimes ashamed of the label "Christian" because it has been hyjacked by people to the far right.

What bugs me is that Christians always seem to ignore the fact that not everyone is Christian. Not everyone has their morals and ideals. They just push their way into other people's lives and try to dictate them. I really respect them in the fact that they are so incredibly faithful to their religion. But it's not MY religion. Those aren't MY beliefs. What I do in my life is not affecting their lives. Why can't many of them grasp that fact?

There is something inside me that rebels at the idea that Christianity has taken such a strong hold over our government and social arenas. The idealogies and practices that Christianity promotes are positive: generosity, kindness, honesty and personal responsibility.

However, those traits do not give people a right to tell me what to think or how to live. I am not subhuman because I believe that two people that love each other, regardless of gender, and have built a life together deserve civil rights like married couples.

I believe people deserve to be treated equally even if they don't conform to the majority's religious beliefs and that individuals have a right to make decisions concerning themselves regardless of whether it is the "Christian" thing to do.

"Once again women do not need abortion. They need self respect and respect from men. Those who approve of abortion approve of exploitation of women and use them as objects"

Taken away a woman's freedom to make decisions about HER body and HER life is exploiting women and treating them like objects. It is saying that a woman is not competent enough to lead her own life. It is saying that she MUST make that baby, like that's what we were put here to do. THAT is making women feel like objects. In my eyes, fighting for the right to choose on an issue like abortion means I have a hell of a lot of self respect. I respect myself WAY too much to let someone who DOESN'T KNOW ME to tell me what I should do with my life and my body. Millions of Pro Choice women will openly admit that they themselves would never have an abortion. I wouldn't. But I would NEVER want someone telling me what is best for me when they know nothing about me. All we really own is our bodies. Why should I let ANYONE take that away from me?

JeffK1623. I do understand your point and I think you understand mine. We just have different views in the end. I do agree that we need to do a better job educating our children about safe ***. However, I do not believe that without abortion or welfare, abstinence is the only option. What about adoption or family support. I know that not everyone has a family support system and I also understand there are exceptions to every rule. I just hate it when the exception becomes the rule. I apoligize if you think I was trying to twist your words. That was not my intention.

sdwild1 - I either did not make my point clear or you are attempting to twist my words. cbslogin12 stated woman had the right to choose to get pregnant prior to s e x, and that her choice is birth control.

My point is birth control is not an infallible option to pregnancy and abstinence while it guarantees a pregnancy is impossible the practice of it is relatively nonexistent. So for a few that 1% is representative. The majority of unplanned pregnancies though do not practice proper safe guards to avoid it.

Instead of wasting time and energy in attempting to ban abortions lets better spend our time and money in teaching our young people the benefits of safe ***. Let%u2019s provide a secure and hostile free environment that will allow women to receive birth control and contraceptives.

Even with all this there would still be unplanned pregnancies, it is unavoidable. So this leave 2 choices abortion or take the pregnancy to term, which more than likely will require assistance from a government welfare program. You state ban both, leaving the only option of abstinence. This is a typical anti-abortion and religious stance, ignoring the fact that no matter how hard they try they will never stop people from having s e x.

No matter how you justify it in your mind, its a murder of a life! You are robbing a life from one that has no chance or choice to fight back. Adoption gives that chance for that child to fight back.

Abortion is killing of the unborn. Those who approve of it are killing their own son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter. Once agian the public made a deadly wrong choice. God help us all.
