Interesting. Every policy initiative that was mentioned for the Democrats is a plum for the international business community or the super-wealthy. For examle, do we really need a nuclear agreement with India or stem-cell research (unless you are a sick fiend of a old rich sicko who wants to use baby brains to extend your life).

What do the Democrat supporters say? Are those the issues you thought you were voting for?

And the minimum wage thing will be offset by the open borders for illegals policy.

What happened to health care? Affordable housing? Watchdog on corporate abuses? Strange these new Democrats look like Republicans, eh.

laurieleemoo did you ever get to read THE PRICE OF LOYALTY or AGAINST ALL ENEMIES?I hope that you did.They provide a unique perspective from former Bush officials.Clarke actually served Reagan,Bush Sr.,Clinton and Bush jr..There are some revelations in these books about Iraq,Al Queda and the adminstration policies.Clarke goes in to detail as to when the America finally put all the pieces together and figured out that Al Queda was behind all the terrorist attacks.The actions that were taken and the reason for ceasing of the actions along with the knowledge being passed on to President Bush.Unfortunately it is not chronologcal,more like a movie that starts towards the ending and works its way back to the begininng and then to the end.These are both written by well thought of republicans and have never been rebuked.I have been trying to locate you since our last conversation.

Webdepot, i'm sorry to jump in but you mentioned social programs. We live in a country where EVERYONE has access to healthcare. We offer healthcare to anyone whether or not they can pay even to non-citizens. So that argument is left wing propaganda. What conservatives would like is for people to be LESS dependent on govt. If this Democrat congress goes unchecked we can expect cradle to grave entitlements. This is an incredibly inefficient use of resources and it is also un-American in the sense that this country was built on rugged individualism and self reliance, as corny as that sounds. It is our nature and our culture to be innovative and self sufficient. Just like the old bloated pension programs that are buring companies these giant social programs are going to bury us. We have to stay lean and mean to compete in this global economy.

So,

Conrad Burns of Montana & George Allen of Virginia (both Republicans) have conceded their elections without a fight. But that's Republicans... ....they lose, they concede.

if they had been Democrats, here's what would've happened:

They would have demanded recounts, gotten lawyers, complained that electronic voting machines were rigged, and the elections stolen from them. IF they had been Democrat.

Guess that's the difference between Republicans and Democrats

Sorry to be such a cynic, but I do not look for great things happening. Of course, the biggest concern is the situation in Iraq and getting our troops out of there and, staying out of the mideast.
My second concern is corruption. Can we trust a person's opinion if they are corrupt in their own personal relationships? Dems or Repubs, if they are corrupt, bounce them out, and quickly. Americans deserve better.
These politicians must represent everyone equally,
regardless of party. And that with with honesty and integrity.

gijohn5 - obviously you are a Christian, God fearing, conservative... but....
Social Programs; If you are against them, then you are not much of a Christian.. Me.. I understand that there are those less fortunate than myself and gladly pay my share to help them... even you if it is necessary.

Raise in taxes; if you are a millionaire or close to it, you may expect a rise in your taxes... for the poor and middle class, I'm sure they will be working to lower your taxes... but don't forget, this democratic congress is inheriting TRILLIONS in debt from 6 years of runaway Republican spending.

Abortion on demand; no problem for me, but obviously for you.. So, if your 12 year old daughter gets raped by a pedophile and ends up preggers, you don't have to get her an abortion.. love the child of your childs nightmare.

Stem cell research; ok.. now here's a good one... how about you go on record right here that you and your family will never partake of any cures that where developed through embrionic stem cell research. Bet you can't do it and mean it.

Socialized medicine; in the wealthiest country in the world, access to medical care should be guaranteed to everyone. If you would prefer to deny that, then you are a lousy Christian and a hypocrit.

828524s---i have seen you a few times now tell people to get off this site because you don't agree with their opinion. I guess you think you own the internet? Or maybe you are not an american citizen and don't realize we have freedom of speech here in america---but you really should stop trying to suppress the american people. Maybe you come from a dictatorship where you think you can tell people what to do? To disagree with them is one thing, to tell them off is another, but its a whole different ballgame when you go around telling people to get off this site. I mean really, who exactly, do you think you are?

Tinker3478, "checks and balances"

All of this LEFT / RIGHT , LIBERAL / CONSERVATIVE, DEMOCRAT / REPUBLICAN
is HISTORY, things are going to change..

The COURTS and GOVERNMENT are CORRUPT

I assure you it will NOT be business as USUAL
the COURTS will change ONE WAY or ANOTHER

THE PEOPLE are NOT going to TOLERATE THESE CRIMINALS...

We (THE PEOPLE) (see IX and X Amendments)
may have to take up ARMS and
run those CRIMINALS out
ONE GOVERNMENT BUILDING AT A TIME

==

"culture of corruption." insinuates CRIMES have been COMMITTED
and NOW people need to go to JAIL...

MY Constitutional rights were VIOLATED
by the highest court in the land (and those below it)

==
The COURTS and GOVERNMENT are CORRUPT
==

WE NEED IMPEACHMENT SOME OF THESE JUDGES
in the SUPREME and other US COURTS

UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT
James B. Veasaw v. Cari M. Domingues,et al.
No: 05-1467

Securities and Exchange Commission was giving away and/or selling Govt. jobs, and Government employees commit CRIMES against the
people (me and others) Perjury, mail/wire fraud, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, tampering with evidence...etc and the COURTS
(US SUPREME COURT!) were helping them it COVER UP..!
==
Do you know why they call it CIVIL COURT ?

Because Gentlemen thought there had to be
a better way to settle disputes other than with VIOLENCE

When the COURTS are CORRUPT
You no longer have a CIVIL SOCIETY

You now have a TYRANNY..

Oh, please! You are so small! You probably wouldn't recognize a Democrat if one bit you on the butt because you're too insulated off in cloud-cuckoo land. Go have lunch with the blonde bimbo. What's her name, Dan Clotter?

The point of "checks and balances" is not to have Congress controlled by one party and the Executive branch headed by the other, but for Congress to provide a check -- via legislation, committee hearings and other mechanisms -- on any administration that over-steps its authority, a duty which the Congress has happily ignored during the past six years. (The other basic portions of the constitutional "checks and balances," of course, are that the Executive may veto legislation passed by the Congress, and the Judicial branch reviews the constitutionality of the actions of both the Executive and Legislative branches.)

Re: Checks and balances.

Why support a Republican for president in '08? The Supremes make a pretty weighty balance. Or had you forgotten they were in the equation?

A question for all liberals who were whining about "checks and balances"

Now that we have a Democrat Congress, does that mean you're going to support a Republican for president in '08 ??

Afterall, to achieve checks and balances, we should not have a Democrat president and a Democrat congress.

Do you still believe in "checks and balances"???

Yeah, right
