Actor Responds To Claim He Was Off His Meds In Political Ad: 'My Pills Are Working Really Well'
- Isn't it a fact now, that the comments of Rush Limbaugh, whom I call 'Husky Bushblog" are typical of the attitude, comments, and stance of the Rpublican Party? They are not caring, absolutely selfish of their own, and their own views, not willing to even compromise, and just stubborn. It's really quite a thrill to watch or hear Limbaugh talk of other people, when he himself has a huge big skeleton of his own. He is trying to pull out the mole hill out of others' eyes, when he has a mountain in his own. Now he has that mountain in his ears too!

I haven't questioned Fox's affliction. Whether or not it's Rush's place to do so is also a moot point. Fox made a political ad and Rush commented. It's what he does. While people don't seem to be comfortable with his statement (and probably haven't bothered to investigate the full context in which the statements were made), the statement was most probably factual and doesn't deserve the furor that has transpired.
I agree with you. This IS a moot point, but not for the reasons you pointed out.
I'm sure, with just a little effort, we could find more that a few truly offensive statements uttered by the left. Clooney's comment about Charlton Heston is a perfect example.
This subject has been blown out of proportion. It's been two days and the media is still talking about it. With all the things going on in this world, the lead story is something Rush said! It's good to see that the media has its priorities in order, as usual. - Reply to this comment
- THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS ON STEM CELL RESEARCH. You can work with whatever line of Stem Cells you want, you just can't have Federal (read Taxpayer) funds to do it with. There have been more discoveries/cures using adult stem cell lines than any embryonic stem cell lines.

- Obviously most of you do not know that when the person IS ON the medication, the shakes increase. The medicines most commonly used will attempt to either replace or mimic dopamine, which improves the tremor, rigidity and slowness associated with Parkinson disease. If a person with the disease DOES NOT take the medication, then they slow down A LOT and rigidity and slowness sets in.
When someone has parkinson's and they do not take the medication, rigidity sets in.
Obviously Fox WAS ON the medication and as a result was able to speak clearly, although there was an increase in the shakes. - Reply to this comment
- TC,
It is not Rush's nor your place to question the extent of Mr. Fox's affliction. Would you rather Mr. Fox have appeard without any manifestation of the disease so that those who are so predisposed could go about their happy little lives in denial? Would that have been a more honest representation of the disease in your opin? The fact that medication can sometimes cover the symtoms is great. But if you read chapter 8 of Mr. Fox's book, as I suspect someone of your fine sensitivity might have, you should have read about the on again, off again aspect of the illness and the ability of medication to control it's symptoms. The fact is that Mr. Fox could have displayed the same degree of affliction whether he was on the medication or not. That fact really makes your (and Rush's) charge a moot point doesn't it? - Reply to this comment
- People like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter make their money by being provocative, shocking, and brazen. Unfortunately it only fuels the fires of hatred, bigotry and cruelty. Here's a man who was making jokes about Ted Kennedy's liver while at the same time consuming $50,000 a month worth of synthetic morphine. Both Rush and Ann could be the poster childred for the new Republicrites.

So, you're saying he accused Fox of doing something he's admitted to doing in the past. Hmmmm... let me think about that one.
The other things you mentioned are not relevant to this discussion.

Former drug used discounts Rush's opinions or comments? I suppose, then, that you also categorically ignore 90% or more of the politically outspoken celebrities, based on your standard. Am I correct? - Reply to this comment
- To those who oppose stem cell research, stick to your beliefs, and when you come down with ALS or any other disease where a cure has been developed through stem cell research, just refuse the treatment. But for the rest of us, stop trying to deny us the right to attempt to find cures through stem cell research. I live in Missouri and I will be voting for Claire McCaskill, and one reason is because she does support stem cell research. It will be a vote for hope, in many respects. It will also be a vote for Michael Fox, my beautiful daughter-in-law fighting breast cancer, another family member losing his fight with ALS and for the millions of people suffering with illnesses for which cures may be discovered through stem cell research.

- You mean Rush ? you're kidding right ? Let's start with what he did right here. This man has Parkinson's disease and he accuses him of not taking his meds ? !
you Repubs ? you're kidding right ? How about what the NJ candidateis doing. Accusing the Dem candidate without having any proof that he is under federal investigation.
Wanna go higher ? How about *** Cheney outing a CIA agent !

- PLEASE recall that at least Mr. Fox is taking his OWN medications Rush, not going across the border to obtain them, and they are not addictive painkillers that make you a blathering idiot as usual.

Can you be more specific? What lying? What rumors? Who was destroyed?
Without facts, your vapid comments appear to be exactly that which you accuse the Republicans. - Reply to this comment
- You know what. This is not something that needs to be dropped. It is exactly what Republicans have been doing for years. Lying, starting rumors, spreading innuendo and trying to personally destroy people.
It's really pathetic. They have no real convictions. No real moral values. It's just about money and power. That Repub idiot senate candidate in NJ is doing the same thing. They all do. - Reply to this comment
- I couldn't care less if Fox stopped taking his medication in order to educate people as to the ravages of Parkinson's Disease. I, too, have an incurable, usually fatal, disease, although it's not a disease that would be helped by stem-cell research.
However, if I could draw attention to my plight and the plight of others like me by going off my meds and filming a television commercial for a political candidate who supports investing in research that might somedat find a cure, I wouldn't hesitate to do it. How could anyone find fault with that? - Reply to this comment
- The federal funding Talent opposes and McCaskill favors allows for somatic cell nuclear transfer (therapeutic cloning):

This article, however, isn't debating the bill or its supporters. This article many of you are so eloquently debating (using words like gay, fat, ugly, windbag, etc.) is about Rush's comments that Fox may have purposely been off his meds when he made this commercial in order illustrate the ravages of the disease.
Fox, by his own admission in chapter 8 of his book "Lucky Man", states that he has foregone his medication when speaking before Congress for this very purpose.
Bottom line:
Fox likely did forego his medication and has gone on record having done this in the past. That's understandable when trying to draw attention to Parkinson's Disease.
Rush pointed out the obvious. Granted, it wasn't delicate, but it was probably factual.
Having a disease does not immunize one from criticism, especially one who has insinuated himself into the political arena such as Fox has.
The comments I'm seeing on here, however, show highly, charged emotional reactions that seem to ignore the facts. Sorry guys, but name-calling, yelling, holding your breath and stamping your feet doesn't help your cause. - Reply to this comment

- Rush: "... if I am wrong ..." "IF"?!? The man doesn't have either the intelligence or the courage to admit when he is wrong!
Another poster wrote:
""Personally I love Rush!!! He said he appologizes if he was wrong, but who cares????? There are much more important issues that are newsworthy. For it to become such a big deal is stupid, just drop it."
They do this "there's more important issues, so let's just drop this one" every time they get caught proven wrong. It's called "cut-and-run."
They lied yet again and won't admit it. - Reply to this comment

- Truth be told, Michael was off meds when he did the commercial. Yes that is exploitation for drama. Those illnesses do not need drama, or, do they? I mean if it worked---maybe drama IS the answer.
Rush Limbaugh is a drug addict. Why does anyone listen to him to begin with? He's fat and ugly too...what a horse's a--. - Reply to this comment
- Mr. Limbaugh should pray that he never has to know what it is like to have Parkinson's Disease. I watched my father bravely battle that horrible disease for many years until he was mercifully taken from us in 2002. No matter what side of the debate about stem cell research you're on, his comments were unbelieveably insensitive and disrespectful to the thousands of people that deal with that disease and others on a daily basis. SHAME on you, Mr. Limbaugh.
