"...you want to tell me it's been settled that CNN has a right to tag along with out troops?"

Didn't say that this particular case is settled. What I said is that freedom to collect and report the information must be accomodated one way or the other. You may stop it here but you can't stop it everywhere, nor should you want to.

"Why not the press, who also are payers of taxes?"
I don't understand. No soldier can demand to go along on a mission. Why should a reporter get more?

How about if they print your name, address and social security number? Same answer?

I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THE CIA HAS NOT JUST MY NAME ADDRESS AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER BUT THAT OF EVERY POSTER ON THIS FORUM.==

IF WE DON'T STAND UP FOR WHAT IS (SIC) WRITE, WE WILL BE MAKING THE SAME MISTAKE THAT THE GERMAN PEOPLE DID BY NOT REPUDIATING HITLER WHEN HE WAS COMING INTO POWER.

WE AND THE FREE PRESS HAVE NOT JUST THE RIGHT BUT THE REPSONSIBILITY TO STAND UP AND PROTECT OUR CONSTITUTION !

"Any one who does NOT think our troops in Iraq and elsewhere are in the cross hairs of snipers needs a reality check badly. We knowing it and seeing it on TV is only bad news for one group of people: GOP/Republican neo-cons"
This is unfortunately a fundamental difference between Republicans and Democrats. Republicans assumed a few years ago that most people would say the answer is "al qaeda." Sadly, they were wrong.

We pay (taxes)so the military can go.

Why not the press, who also are payers of taxes?

How do we get to know the truth?

"... Because up until now, CNN was just singing songs of glory about Bush every night. Please."

If the press had done its job and been vigilant, we may have been spared this terrible war in Iraq, the Downing Street memos would have gotten a lot of ink, and Rove would probably have been indicted for treason in the Valerie Plame case.

"But there are volumns of case law where the court has striken activities which have a "chilling effect" on the ability of the free press to gather and report information"
Oh, come on. They can't even agree on whether we can have cameras in court rooms, and you want to tell me it's been settled that CNN has a right to tag along with out troops?

Any one who does NOT think our troops in Iraq and elsewhere are in the cross hairs of snipers needs a reality check badly. We knowing it and seeing it on TV is only bad news for one group of people: GOP/Republican neo-cons, who are gonna vote for their party regaudless of the fact that Republicans of today are the most CURSORY leaders this country was duped into voting for.

nope. just an observation. control of the press is one of the characteristics of Hitler's Nazi party, as was propagandistic use of the press.

"RonnieHM"

Are you ready for a world where WE get to know?

In the age of information, there are going to be more reporters, not less. Be prepared to know the truth and let it guide you and your CHOICES.

Sometimes the truth hurts.

(AP) A leading Republican lawmaker, Rep. Hunter said, "You can't be on both sides of the war," ===

WE KNOW THAT TO BE A SPECIOUS ARGUMENT WHEN OUR TROOPS ARE NEEDLESSLY DYING IN A CIVIL WAR IN IRAQ. WE DON%u2019T KNOW WHO TO SUPPORT, SHI ITES OR SUNNIS SO WE ARE CAUGHT AGAIN, ON BOTH SIDES OF THE WAR AS ARE OUR JOURNALISTS, WHO ALSO RISK THEIR LIVES TO KEEP THE TRUTH ALIVE.

No matter how much double speak and back tracking of this misadministration, it is evident that

%u201CStay the course%u201D means STAY THE CURSE! %u201CStay the course%u201D means STAY THE CURSE! %u201CStay the course%u201D means STAY THE CURSE! %u201CStay the course%u201D means STAY THE CURSE!
