Unilateral and egotistic. Is the space American now? What about the other hundreds of countries on Earth? That is really the last straw about Bush's big ego!

Tell me: Since we all live in space how can we deny access to space? Space for the spaced as we always say out here in the sticks.

Manelvagor, so you've never had that party loyalty thing. Good for you, you're a true independent. My family would have strung you up. I rebelled and went Democrat now turning back to Republican. I do believe we face a serious threat and I'm going out on a limb and trusting that Bush has done all this for a good reason. I can't imagine any other explanation for all he's risked.

mstiger,

I have a great idea. Try "READING" the "DOCUMENT" and formulating a "REAL OPINION" about our U.S. Space Policy. (hint - Bush didn't think up all this fancy book-learnin' on his own).

You sound like a buzzard who is using this topic as just another leafless branch to stop and take a dump from. The ***'s getting old.

Whether or not this country is better off after 2008, it will still need a space policy. I think that if this article was dated April 22, 2009 and had Hillary's face spread accross Earth and space, the policy would likely have been 99% the same out of simple necessity and pragmatism.

These are very sad times The" Decider" ,or his proxy, will decide what or who is "hostile" in space. If a launch goes awry, or if a satellite fails, due to faulty electronics, has a "hostile" action taken place? If it is found that failed components were made "in one or more of the following countries...." Who will be invaded or bombed "into the stone age"?
All these desicion with be made by the "decider" his proxy or, yes someday, another POTUS.
I have not been very religious: however I find myself saying(praying?) "...and deliver us from evil.."

I think gossimer3 is out of line too. Bush was never elected fairly or unfairly. Now we have voting machines that run on software that the government cannot inspect for weaknesses. Casino slot machine makers all have to submit their software but those are Blue State companies and more important to Bill Bennett than the integrity of Democracy. Wake up, we are the biggest Empire in history, and we, without being in the upper 2% have nothing to add to the ruling elite. Our system is corrupted by money and big business more than ever before. WAKE UP, and thank you for some truth gossimer3.
