The St. Petersburg Times and The Miami Herald should be ashamed of themselves -

"Given the potentially devastating impact that a false suggestion of pedophilia could have on anyone, not to mention a congressman known to be ***, and lacking any corroborating information, we chose not to do a story," said Tom Fiedler, executive editor of the Herald.

This has never kept them from reporting first and investigating later before. The fourth estate has failed the public again...

Foley should be dragged from his treatment facility sanctuary, arrested and placed in Jail as any other pedophile as should those who defend his actions or covered for him.

This is really getting uglier by the minute. Hopefully the story will run out of steam asap. Here's our two cents:

"Roth also announced for the first time that Foley is ***. He insisted Foley never had sexual contact with a minor."

More PR BullS**t

Gee, the age of sexual consent in the District of Columbia is 16 years old - the same age requirement to become a Congressional Page.

Yep, the party of morality has gotten caught with its pants down because Congressman Foley couldn't help himself seek the fountain of youth!

Doesn't it appear to be strange that only when he was confronted about his vile behavior did he
immediately check himself into an rehab? Did he have his reservation in advance, just in case.

Also, aren't sexual predators usually arrested
and put into a national registry? Oh yeah, the question on if his is a predator. IM's to 16 year olds asking them sexual questions.

His first excuse was alcohol, now it's because he was molested by clergy. Maybe he'll get enough sympathy by blaming everyone else to spare himself jail time, but the bottom line is that he preyed on teen boys. He is a pedophile, and as far as I can remember, there is no cure. Oh, there is one cure, in fact I wish more pedophiles would consider it......lead therapy. Works every time.

Research shows that most child molesters were themselves molested as children.

Research concludes that drinking alchohol often releases one's inhabitions and people will behave differently when drunk than when sober.

HOWEVER

The number of adults who were molested as children is way higher than the number of child molesters.

The conclusions of research are simply statistical data. NOT AN EXCUSE.

And in my personal opinion, the fact that this guy admitted himself to a rehab facility, is just a way of hiding out and not having to face the music.

Here is the link to him having a relationship with a page http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2006/10/instant_message.html,now all major medias need to find out how much Hastert,Boehner,Reynolds,Alexander and Shimkus knew and when.If they warned the pages 5 years ago (ABC news)then they have probaly know about the nature of his emails and relationships with pages equally as long.It is time for all the above mention congressmen to step down.

"It seems to have been reserved to the people of this country, by their conduct and example, to decide the important question, whether societies of men are really capable or not of establishing good government from reflection and choice, or whether they are forever destined to depend for their political constitutions on accident and force. If there be any truth in the remark, the crisis at which we are arrived may with propriety be regarded as the era in which that decision is to be made; and a wrong election of the part we shall act may, in this view, deserve to be considered as the general misfortune of mankind."

Why do I have the feeling this is a lie, to try to play the sypathy card?

The guy has been lying about everything else, now we're all just expected to believe his claim.

I agree with another poster, this guy has no shame.

This man has no shame ..its not his fault. What do we have to do for him to fess up? Should we make him Gov of NJ for a few days? No..he may like that. Maybe he would like to be with boys that can't type? Maybe Barney Frank and make him an offer he can't refuse. Tar and feather him like they used to do in Florida. You can still tar and feather Republicans in Florida, I am sure it is a law. Where is NBC when you need them to catch these bad boys for bad boys? Oh well, no hero she ..I mean he ..I mean she I mean.....

However, simply because one is a *** person is not justification to accuse one of pedophilia which CBS news seem to imply before and after his lawyer admited that Mark Foley was ***. However, it is not justification to give ignorant wags (such as the family values folks) support that they think that being *** hic ergo means one is a pedophile. IT IS NOT.

The pedophile who molested Foley did not make him ***. He was born that way. The majority of pedophiles are heterosexual---Mary Le Tourneau is such an example and in recent years we have seen case after case of opposite *** pedophile cases in the news.

Mr. Foley has not engaged in any pedophilic activities that can be determined. As such he is innocent until otherwise proven guilty. He needs the same kind of EQUAL treatment that would be given to any heterosexual man or woman who finds a cute something but admires from a far taking no action.

So what that Mr. Foley is ***? That has nothing to do with his job performance or the ability of his or anyone else being able to do their job. After all he was not working in a brothel. He apparently served his constituents well and his National Service has nothing to do with his sexual orientation. Let us not get into the McCarthy era again that culminated in the Pink Scare of the 1960s.

listen, this is just about MONEY. Hastert et al knew about this guy in plenty of time to find a primary opponent for foley, drop this dirt in the primary - get foley out of there AND still have a winning repub candidate in that district. BUT foley is one of their best fundraisers and is loaded with Palm Beach campaign cash (700k)while a new guy would be starting from scratch. Hence the reported 100k payment from foley to repub house election committee not too long ago. as with all republican scandals -- just follow the money. Anyone want to wager some money went to pages and their parents too???

You are either too young to remember or too stupid Nixon tried the same BS. Neither you nor anyone in this fascist administration knows anything of honor to your country or the troops or America.
