Barney Frank (D-MA) got nailed (no pun intended)for paying for *** and having *** with *** prostitute Stephen L. Gobie in 1989. He is still in office to this day....He did not even have the decentcy to retire.

In 1983 Congressman Gerry Studds (D-Mass) was charged with homosexual RELATIONS with a 17-year old youth who was serving as page in the House. He also did not resign.....

James McGreevey (DLets put this in context for a second, as bad as this is, lets take a look at past sexual ACTION by some of our leaders and former leaders%u2026%u2026.

James McGreevey (D-NJ) announced his resignation Thursday after revealing that he is *** and that he had an adulterous affair with a man. (He cheated on his wife with a man (whom he is now in a relationship with) while she was in the hospital giving birth to his baby. I will say at least he resigned...... But he is now being held up as a hero for homosexuals.

I agree with Frank88882 and his assertion that we should vote out the bums, but I would like to take it one step further. Since the government was meant to be public service, and not a career, we should immediately begin term limits and also limit the amounts of money allowed to be spent on elections. Lets return this government to the people, and away from career politicians who use their power for their own interests, and the interests of people who will help them get re elected.

Frank88882-

I don't think that what is taking place here is as much a politicizing of the issue but more frustration against the self-sanctimonious who are revealed to be anything but. By definition, the self-sanctimonious gravitate to the Republican agenda - it suits their perspective.

sorry fknocker, check your facts-not "both sides" Just the right wing repubs:
From the Wash. Post:
"Shimkus said in a statement last night, "in late 2005, I was notified by the then Clerk of the House," that Alexander had told the Clerk "about an email exchange between Congressman Foley and a former House Page. I took immediate action to investigate the matter."
"The resignation rocked the Capitol, and especially Foley's GOP colleagues, as lawmakers were rushing to adjourn for at least six weeks. House Majority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) told The Washington Post last night that he had learned this spring of inappropriate "contact" between Foley and a 16-year-old page. Boehner said he then told House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.). Boehner later contacted The Post and said he could not remember whether he talked to Hastert."
do you actually think if the democrats had known they would have covered it up before the election?
That's a little naive. It does amaze me how bipartisan the right becomes when caught, but sorry, no dems covering for the right wing pedophile.

The right wing republican majority knew about this guy for years and squelched it. No investigation. They didn't want to lose the seat, even though this is clearly predatory pedophilia.
They actually warned incoming pages at their orientation about him! How does that compare to the right wing republicans approach to Clinton/Lewinsky?.
HMMMM???
hypocrisy???

As a conservative, I personally think anyone that does what the congressman did should go to jail. The people who post here making this a political issue (Dems vs. Rep) are rather juvenile (no pun intended). I am sick and tired of the *** that comes out of Washington, our State Govt, and even our local governments. As a 9 yr veteran of the military, I am sick of politicians who debase our great country. So if you have to think politics, try to focus on what really is important... voting the bums out and replacing them with honest folk. Keep doing so until the we get the message across that we will not settle for sleaze. I think this is a platform that conservatives like myself can share with honest liberals. As for Mr. Foley... may he spend some time behind bars to reflect on his actions.

diamtool,

how is this "right wing" hypocrisy? It is TOM FOLEY hypocrisy. Is any right winger condoning or apologizing for his actions?

Here are two examples of hypocrisy in politics:
Right wing: Pro-life, yet pro death penalty.
Left wing: The exact opposite.
BOTH platforms are hypocritical!!!!!!

ms38654...what does Bush have to do with this? PLease explain how BUSH is involved here.

Another example of Bush's finest...

I just hope other republicans come to their senses as I have and vote the rest of these poor representitives out of office. How many knew of this pervert's appetite and covered it up?

Right wing hypocrisy comes home to roost again!
Foley's remarks on Clinton/lewinsky from 1998:

It's vile," said Rep. Mark Foley, R-West Palm Beach. "It's more sad than anything else, to see someone with such potential throw it all down the drain because of a sexual addiction."
"just sad," Foley said. "It's unbelievable that he could behave so carelessly in that setting."
Yes Foley it was vile- just not nearly as vile as homosexual predatory pedophilia.

whatithink...

well..nice to meet you. Here is a conservative who IS placing the blame on a conservative. READ MY POSTS. What you also don't see is conservatives rushing to the defense of a conservative WHO IS GUILTY. Did anyone rush to defend Bob Ney?

On the other hand...whenever a Dem is accused of wrongdoing it's always called a nasty political ploy by those rotten GOPers.

As for a poster earlier who pointed out that the ones getting the most upset about things are usually guilty......look no further than Clinton regarding questions about National Security.

To Blazercoach1,

"Or do you assume that we conservatives blindly defend others who are conservative?"

- There are no assumptions on that question. All you have to do is read any post created by a conservative. I have yet to meet a conservative who places any responsibility on another conservative. Anytime a conservative does something wrong, the topic turns into..."Well, the liberals did this..."

Ok, if this guy is really ***, it's fine by me. Who cares? People make more of a fuss about it than it really deserves.

Now, what we have here is an egregious example of stupidity. The kid's JAILBAIT, for Chris'sakes! At least have the good sense to hit on guys over 18 who are LEGAL. :/ If he went after a sixteen year old female it'd be just as disturbing.

It's harassment, yes, and he should be reprimanded for that, but the guy's sexual orientation makes no difference to me at all. Stupid is stupid, and a lecher is a lecher, regardless if the perp is *** or straight.
