Stop spending our money blowing up other countries, and heal our OWN country. It''s ridiculous that we are paying taxes and funding the bombing of other countries and at the same time losing our own homes and jobs and assets. Yeah, I know that''s a simplistic view, but it''s true. What about US for chrissake?

Social security is nothing of the sort...people started to live longer due to medicine, and that creates a void within the income for the elder people. What would you suggest? They have paid all their lives into this fund, and you want to just saw screw it? Where would you spend that money? You want to fight ANOTHER country and get our ***** kicked?

Don''t you love Republicans...always with the self righteous Jesus angle of justification, but always the most non-Christians of the bunch. WWJD? Obviously, he would disregard the poor, attack anyone of another color, and lie about the justifications. You people are a hoot

So the only way you can post something somewhat coherent is to cut and paste.

Well, let''s look at that article. Social Security isn''t just a part of the war on poverty. Or do you suggest cutting SS for just the poorest 1/5th? Same for education; like it or not, this country has public education for everyone. Or should the poorest 1/5th be made to stop going to school? And $78 billion in private charity? So what? What does this have to do with government spending?

As usual the dumpocraps choose to hide their eyes to facts! Have no regard whatsoever for facts...and will deny them with their last breath!

Had Americans actually gotten the benefit of $1 TRILLION DOLLARS/year...we''''d all be freaking millionnaires!
Posted by TexHillGirl

That''s why it would have been nice if we had gotten the bailout money instead of the banks.

Is crime lower today than in the 1950s, before the War on Poverty?

There is no way we spend a trillion dollars on welfare. If you have a source suggesting that, please share. Otherwise, your posts are meaningless.

I wrote down your term, SuperPower Responsibility Syndrome. I''ll be using it or something like it. Unjustified Entitlement might fit in there somewhere. If you have ever read any of Pat Buchanan''s books, you know that he clearly saw all this coming 10 years ago.

For the love of God, everyone please go to:

http://www.gpoaccess.gov/usbudget/browse.html

to see a breakdown of spending each of the last 12 years. This nonsense about welfare bankrupting our country and pouring a trillion dollars every year into the War on Poverty has got to stop.

Educate yourselves, please...

ddaryl1 - we understand your frustration with the Bush Administration, but the fact remains that this so called ''''Government Entitlements'''' such as welfare and hand outs are the real reasons why this country is failing economically.

Posted by MindURownBiz

Actually, that is not even slightly a fact...but a ridiculous opinion. Entitlements huh? So, again...you want to blame everything on welfare right? Tell me, what do you know of welfare and how it works? What percentage of our money is spent on that compared to other things? Tell me how you have come to that conclusion? Tell me how deregulation and tax breaks for the extreme wealthy have had no impact...tell me how a worthless war on nothing didn''t do anything? It was all welfare huh? Come up with some specifics Dexter

The money spent on this war could be spent on the results of NAFTA. You see, NAFTA has allowed America to trade jobs to Mexico for Mexico''s unemployed. So now America has fewer jobs, but more illegal unemployed Mexicans. So the money being wasted on a pointless war could be spent unemployment benefits for Americans and donation food pantries for illegal Mexicans.

Then you probably shouldn''t have used the term "welfare". I guess by your assessment, 100% of government spending is welfare? You don''t know much about maintaining a civilization, do you?

Who the hell debunked them? The socialistpolicies eating off this country started back in 1964 under Lyndon Johnson...the national debt has been rising every day since then...and no president has been able to to stop with, not with trickle up, trickle down, voo doo, slick willy wonka cook the books, tax up, tax down...and as long as it keeps sucking off the country it won''''t stop, period...

Especially with your new president=elect proposing tax cuts and $500 stimulus cks...tossing the $1 trillion we already put in those programs, and another $1 trillion on top of it!

Like I said, the dumb and dumber just get dumber.

Can you define socialist policies? Do you have a problem with public education? Libraries? Roads? Veterans benefits? Disability? Medicare? If you learn a little about socalism, then you would realize that the policies did not start with Johnson, but have been around from the beginning of the country...before socialism was even defined. What policies would you be referring to I wonder? Would it be the civil rights policies of Johnson that bother you so much? Once again...nothing but a bigot, and basing your entire belief structure off of hating people you think you are better than.
