Comments on: Pilot Sues U.S. Over Terrorist Watch List
A "Law-Abiding Combat Veteran," Who Converted To Islam, May Lose His Job At A Commercial Airline
- What a coincidence.
I just got home after going out for some coffee where I had the chance to read a an article in a newspaper about how authorities in Yemen arrested 9 of their citizens for converting to Christianity.
I thought about sending the Yemen embassy an email right after I get back home to complain about their treatment these converts are receiving in their country.
But the first thing I see on the internet was this piece of news about this most American guy made to suffer by US authorities and his workplace because he converted to Islam.
How can I send an email to the Yemen embassy now?
You know, it took the US 100 years (1864 to 1964) to resolve the issue of civil rights for its black citizens and I''m afraid it''s going to take another 100 years (1955 to 2055) to get over the trauma caused by Senator Joe McCarthy.
This man was able to instill the fear of the other in the minds of Americans so much that he was able to pave the way for people like Rush Limbaugh and a whole bunch of Republican administrations.
Sad that we cannot trust ourselves any better than a third world country in the middle of the Sahara desert. - Reply to this comment

- The FBI is creating a file on every person (American) and assigning a rating for their potential to cause terror.
Currently, FBI agents need specific reasons - like evidence or allegations that a law probably has been violated - to investigate U.S. citizens and legal residents. The new policy, law enforcement officials told The Associated Press, would let agents open preliminary terrorism investigations after mining public records and intelligence to build a profile of traits that, taken together, were deemed suspicious. Among the factors that could make someone subject of an investigation is travel to regions of the world known for terrorist activity, access to weapons or military training, along with the person%u2019s race or ethnicity.

- it should be (and maybe is) illegal for the US government to keep a secret list, use it to deny people rights to move about the country and prevent them working in their chosen profession. And all without saying how anyone gets on the list, confirming if a person is on it, or providing an authoritative petition and review process to be removed.

- :The Justice Department declined comment on the lawsuit and said in a statement that the FBI''s Terrorist Screening Center, "for both national security and personal privacy reasons," does not confirm or deny the existence of any name on the watch lists that it maintains."

- Hmmm, lets see now, islamists trained to become pilots and then used that training to hijack airplanes to fly into the towers and kill thousands. This pilot converts to islam and is surprised that he may lose his job, it was his decision, maybe he should convert to a non violent religion.

Yep and Bush decided it was more important to bring "democracy" to the Iraqis than go after Bin Laden---where is that guy anyway? "let''s see, he''s not over there, he''s not under here"!
There were no weapons in Iraq, Saddam had nothing to do with 911 or the terrorists-----why have we not gotten Bin Laden yet???????? - Reply to this comment

- This should be a class action suit as this fascist regime and their appointed stormtroopers aka TSA in collaboration with the FBI are in direct violation of the constitution by deny due process in it''s most basic level. Never in the history of America has its rights and freedoms on every level been so trashed and violated than it has been by the fuhrer bush and his coconspiritor dickless cheney who has openly before whole world declared himself above all laws.

Soon enough it will expand to all religions, including the fanatical evangelicals. Then we''ll hear the protests. Right now, they could care less. But as is always the case, these things that are violations of civil rights and due process always later expand to include those who originally applauded the violations. Soon we will read: "Evangelicals on terror watch list may lose their jobs." - Reply to this comment
