The Justice Department has proposed changes to police intelligence-gathering rules that would ease the transfer of information about citizens to federal intelligence agencies, who would then keep the information for at least 10 years. The changes, the first since 1993, were introduced for public comment on July 31.Under the proposed changes, law enforcement agencies would be allowed to target groups and individuals on the basis of suspicion of participation in terrorist acts or providing material support to terrorists. Former FBI agent and American Civil Liberties Union policy counsel Michael German, however, told the Washington Post that the proposed changes could lead to abuse of constitutional rights by law enforcement agencies, citing cases where police have eavesdropped on political dissenters and infiltrated their ranks.

I do side with some who posted comments expressing that being Muslim is not the same thing as being a terrorist. The President''t family has friendships with King Faud''s family of Saudi Arabia, who are Muslim.

Muslim religion has values and teaching very similar to Christian religions. Both have their extremists or fundamentalists.

A publically supported fence mending initiative needs to happen that expresses that Christians have a healthy place in their lives for Muslims to exist and recieve Christian respect and trust.

There are a lot of Christian Evangelicals spreading misinformation campaigns about Muslims, Chinese, Catholics, and I am very very sick of it. I am ready for Homeland Security to creat a WATCH LIST for EVANGELICALS and start detaining them as they travel around the country, too.


Wartime profiling got quite ugly for Japanese nationals during WW-II when several were placed into a detention camp simply because they had Japanese heritage. It is still considered a national shame we strive to forget.

DaVicar2 blithely assumes that the pilot can renounce islam as easily as he embraced it. Sadly this is not the case, once you have embraced islam, then you have embraced it for life and any subsequent renunciation is viewed as apostasy and is punishable by death in some countries

The FBI is creating a file on every person (American) and assigning a rating for their potential to cause terror.

Currently, FBI agents need specific reasons - like evidence or allegations that a law probably has been violated - to investigate U.S. citizens and legal residents. The new policy, law enforcement officials told The Associated Press, would let agents open preliminary terrorism investigations after mining public records and intelligence to build a profile of traits that, taken together, were deemed suspicious. Among the factors that could make someone subject of an investigation is travel to regions of the world known for terrorist activity, access to weapons or military training, along with the person''s race or ethnicity.

The stastic concerning the majority of terrorists iss right. Not just the mid east, but the rest of the world that experiences a terrorist attack is most likely Muslim in origin. Read my post again, I never said all Muslim were terrorists, just that most terrorists were Muslim

The only way to come up with this number is if you ignore the rest of the world. In fact, terror acts by Muslims might be less, much less, than terror acts by other type of gangs in Latin America, Africa and Asia.
If I''m not mistaken the number of Americans kidnapped in Latin America is 8 times higher than Americans who have been kidnapped by Muslims.
