lochilan,

Most American foreign aid is in the form of military assistance and has continued unabated under both parties.

Rather than making this a liberal versus conservative pissing match and attempting to either criticise or defend past actions we should focus on the fact that we need a change in policy toward Pakastan and we need it now.

Obviously, Pakastan thinks their denials are enough to get them off the hook and continue with business as usual. It isn''t.

Congress needs to sequester all aid to Pakastan until Pakastan responds to this evidence in a serious manner and takes dramtic actions to address it.

They may be unwilling to do so, either because they are sympathetic toward the militants or because they are concerned about a public backlash inside Pakastan.

Either way, their inaction defeats the purpose of the aid.

We should make clear our willingness to work with Pakastani forces to address these problems but at the same time also make it clear that the time for serious action by us is long overdue and we will act either with their full cooperation or without it.

That''s been the Obama doctrine since August 2007 and it''s the correct course of action for our national defense.

The proper course of action for Pakastan is to make a choice between the militants and the U.S. and to accept the consequences for their own national defense.

Haqqani represents the rank and file Arab. Bin Laden does not want the common people in the region. He resorts to genocide as a method of purging the territory. Pakistan needs leaders like Haqqani to join them against Osama and his Henchmen. Gaining allies in Iraq brought stability and order to that country. Pakistan should make the same move.

This isn''''t "new" news. This has been happening since AT LEAST 9/11, and probably before. Our government is paying Pakistan BILLIONS to provide safe haven for Taliban friendly warlords, and to help keep al Qaeda safe from our military, so that Bush can maintain his "war time president" status.

This statement might actually be believable to someone with less than half a brain like you, Kokhungry.

The fact that the US gives and has given aid before 9/11 to ALMOST every country in the world ALMOST always gets overlooked by libs...even though libs are the ones instituting all this welfare!

But with today''s islamolib party, just make up whatever false statements you like, and then add..."it''s Bush''s fault" to the end.

Just another reason to "keep your friends close and your enemies closer."

Unfortunately, the secret service prevents us from getting "too close" to our biggest enemies.

Pakistan is harboring terrorists, has been and will continue to do so, while Bush pays them to do it.
What is wrong with this picture?

Hillary Clownton was saying the same EXACT thing before we invaded Iraq.

Pathetic..No other word can describe the Bush "foreign policy" fiasco. It used to be said "The enenmy of my enemy is my friend" actually more true is that Bin Laden can say the "benefactors of my friends, are my enemies" As Cheney would say "So What"
And Dubya wants to give them more sophisticated weapons systems for the F16....to use against Us as well?

It`s becoming increasing obvious that Pakistan is playing all sides and even if unwittingly or unofficially, Pakistan is clearly playing all sides.

"evidence showing that members of the country''s spy service have deepened their ties with some militant groups"

Isn''t it a spy''s job to infiltrate the enemy camps?
