Question: Why Did The CIA Destroy Detainee Tapes?

Answer: Because we have become the bad guys. We threw away all of our principles for "safety". America does not stand for anything anymore.

I love this country but I cannot pretend that wrongs haven''t been done since the beginning.

FBI Whistleblower Sibel Edmonds

"Before the elections, I had a promise from Congressman Waxman''s office." She claims they told her, before the election, "the only reason they couldn''t hold hearings, was because the Republicans were blocking it."
"They said ''your case will be one of the first ones we will hold investigations on,''" she told us. Now, however, since the Democrats have become the majority in the House, Waxman''s office is "going mum." They won''t even respond to her calls.
The congressman''s office did not respond to several
requests for comment on this story.

Every Administration has done that. When the opposing party has tried to show the errors of the existing party, they are stonewalled, fought in court, and otherwise deterred from bringing forth the truth. So let''s call a spade a spade. And this is the result of our fall from the framers idea as to how this Republic should be ran, not Democracy, the Republic. And if you don''t know the difference, then you are part of the problem. Government has now insulated itself from the close scrutiny of the people that it''s a joke. And for the Dems marching Kennedy out complaining about a cover-up. That idiot is the poster-boy for the word cover-up.

Probably finding out things that the general public does not need to know at least in the opinion of those at the top.

Nothing new under the sun.

mrconservatv is correct in that CIA operatives often try to pass themselves off as "journalists", and that is one of the reasons that American journalists (real journalists) get hassled so much when they travel internationally.

A total of 86 journalists and media assistants have been killed in Iraq

Quote from Katherine Graham

"We live in a dirty and dangerous world. There are some things the
general public does not need to know, and shouldn''t. I believe
democracy flourishes when the government can take legitimate steps
to keep its secrets and when the press can decide whether to print
what it knows."

If you believe that you are the one living in a dream world. The very laws we discuss here, the very laws we passed back then, came about because of leaks to our press and our free press digging into the CIA''''s Action. Don''''t be so self serving and PLEASE stop trying to act so superior to everyone else. You are not.

I don''t know why you feel insulted by my post but the press is infiltrated by that same Agency.

Neither party boast anything that even resembles leadership. And government as a whole quit being a government for the people and by the people, years ago. Instead we slip further from the Republic we were created to be, into a morally corrupt cesspool of flawed ideology and twisted ideals.

That''s a cop out and you know it. The Republican''s have stalled and done everything to slow down or stop any attempt to air the wrongs of this Administration. Let''s stop that right here. I''m not sayin the other party is perfect far from it but they have come no where close to what this President and his Party have done to this nation.

Just like 9/11 and all the other inside jobs, crimes and illegal activity don''t expect to find out the truth. Bin Laden, Trillions of dollars unaccounted from the pentagon budget, billions of taxpayer dollars wasted or missing for Iraq reconstruction, Enron, Plame etc. Don''t forget Oklahoma city, Iran Contra, NAFTA etc.

''limited hangout''

The CIA and the President have a responsibility here... a CLEAR and Absolute one. They MUST go before the Congress of this Nation and EXPLAIN their actions and there should be NO other course. This AND the Secret Spying sitution MUST be cleared up so the people of this country can again feel secure that their government isn''t operating outside the law. Anything less, anything short, should result in a special investigation and serious Jail time for those who have broken those laws. The ONLY advantage we have over Terrorist is our sense of right and wrong. When those tapes were burned so was the flag.

mrconservatv, I would agree that whatever we get in the mainstream media about the CIA is exactly what the CIA wants us to know. Some of the Libs who post on this board appear to live in a dream world.
