In Audiotape, Al Qaeda Chief Calls On Europeans To Stop Helping America In Afghanistan
- 2-shey. I concede to the technicality. However I am still confused as to why Bush is corrupt? What has made him corrupt? Is it this war that many mistake as illegal? Or is it something else that only a few notice? I am more excited than ever about President Bush. Soldiers sign up for the military knowing very well what being a soldier entails and people still want to blame their deaths on Bush. Enough of the blame game. Lets let our legitimate President do his job as well as he can and when the time comes we can elect someone else that confused Americans will turn on in the future. Not following the majority is the exception not the rule. Civil Rights is a good example of when the majority was wrong. Other examples are hard to come by.

The people taking our freedom are George W. Bush and Richard Cheney...........no one else can....... - Reply to this comment
- Richard Cheney has declared in public that he believes the presidency should be what''s called an "Imperial Presidency". That, in effect, means that the president makes all of the major policy decisions for America and that the role of the Congress is to approve it (since the people elected the president what he says must be the will of the people throughout his presidency) and that the role of the courts is to declare the president''s policies legal, simply because (as Nixon once said) "if the president does it, it must be legal". Make no mistake. These are the stakes. Cheney has actually said, on camera that the president has the ultimate right to ignore both the Congress and the Courts and that they are "not really'' co-equal branches of government. That''s not MY America and it shouldn''t be anyone else''s either. We like to think that it can''t happen here. That we are somehow magically immune to it. The there is some sort of mystical "Spirit of America" that will keep dictatorship or imperialism from our door. But I tell you that there is not and we must be ever vigilant because we are on the verge of it right now! The "Spirit of America" is something that needs care and feeding and watching because it''s when we get cocky and arrogant and self assured that it CAN''T happen, is the exact moment that it starts to happen.

- However, until that time comes he is in charge and even if one does not acknowledge him as a leader it does not change the fact that he was legally elected by the majority of Americans not once but twice. He is doing something right.

I''m sorry and no offense, but we are not a democracy. We are a democratic republic and the difference is very important. We are not a majority rule nation and we set up a system of checks and balances to try to make sure that the majority could never crush the rights and freedoms of the righteous minority. If we were a majority rule country then we would have not abolished slavery, or had court rulings defending privacy or allowed civil rights and integration to happen. We are a nation set up to acknowledge that sometimes the needs of the few DO outweigh the needs or desires of the many.
In that spirit I declare that, as a free American, I do NOT have to accept a corrupt leader as a legal one and that it is not just my right to fight him and to disobey him and to fight him in every way I can, it is my DUTY to do so. I am not a sheep following the herd to slaughter and Bush is NOT MY leader!. He is NOT my president! It is my right as an American to disavow him! THAT is what I fought for! - Reply to this comment
