Sedam got a lawyer and so did his henchmen but enemy combatants can''t, hmmm. Does that make people we have no evidence of doing something wrong (gitmo) more dangerous than Sedam? or is it more convenient to keep them locked up forever than looking bad if they hang the wrong people.

In 2008 there needs to be a war crime investigation, a repeal of most of the patriot act, start looking for Bin Laden, get the troops home, shore up the constitution and bring back more checks and balances so that no president can start an illegal war.

Don''t anyone get fooled by the temporary troop build up. It was a strategic plan to inflate troop size and then reduce it to levels before the build up just before the election so the dictator can make it look good and say with conviction and honesty that he is bringing the troop home. I can assure you that when we said bring them home we didn''t mean raise it first then bring the build up troops home. Idiot

What else will it take for Americans to take a stand against this blatant rebuttal of the most treasured documents of our entire nation, the US Constitution?

The tyrannical leader of this nation is making a mockery of the very values and freedoms that so many have died to preserve and no one will call him on it! Come on people! How much more ripping away of American freedoms will we allow before pulling together and saying enough is enough? When your sons and daughters are taken from your homes? When you are arrested for speaking out against an illegal war? What will it take? When does it stop?!

Amazing how we fight a war claiming to promote democracy, but we cannot practice the very thing we fight and die for.

How much more hypocritical can this nation become?

America does not need to torture or have secret prisons because America is strong. Torturing and locking up people without rights is an act of desperation and America is not desperate. At least it wasn''t until Bush got elected. Now there''s an act of desperation.

You are more right than any of really know. If you just go and just look what rights have disappeared since the Patriot act came int fruition we would fall flat on our face never to get up. Thanks undermyboat

===have never figured out how they can keep prisoners in cuba which is friendly with venezuela and hates us.===

Guantanamo Bay was an indirect result of the Spanish-American War. It was leased to the US perpetually since 1903.

The land of the free and the home of the brave... where we once feared no one... and we meant it.

Thanks neocons. You''ve made my life a real joy by injecting this paralysing fear of the world into America. We have realized our worst nightmares in this surreal crusade to free the world from that which we have become.

American dominance of the world and it''s resources is a God given right simply because we''re the biggest boys on the block, you might neoconly say. Ah, but sitting down and talking dollars and sense is a lot cheaper than spending untold billions of dollars per day killing the very people you''re trying to convince to see things your way.

Continuing a failed policy is the worst policy.... don''t you guys get it?

I have never figured out how they can keep prisoners in cuba which is friendly with venezuela and hates us. It seems to be something left over from the Bay of Pigs. Kennedy met a tragic end. Lets hope history doesn''t repeat itself.
