Method That Simulates Drowning Has Been Used On Several Al Qaeda Prisoners
- ===You''''d lose the bet sarge. The point was I don''''t care how information is gathered. I feel no sympathy towards these guys ''''cause they will torture you and me with a lot more gusto than we ever will. Then they will kill us.===
You justify torture because our enemy does it? So, if during WWII, we had heard about the Nazi death camps, we should have gathered up all the Germans here in America and butchered them too because the Germans were doing it? Torture is cowardly. Period. Our enemies do that. North Koreans and Chinese do that. Not America. At least not my America. The honorless America that neocons have created do torture. Not the great America that we used to be before Bush got in. - Reply to this comment

- Bill O''''Reilly described waterboarding (on Oprah''''s show) as harmless "dunking". Anyone who agrees with this should have spent some time with my uncle.
It would have changed your mind.

- "U.S. officials confirm that water boarding ...has been banned from the coercive techniques that can be used in questioning high-value prisoners..."
"Officially, the CIA never admitted it used water boarding. Therefore it also refuses to say whether it has been banned. "
In other news, the CIA, never admitted that Bush was actually President in the controversal voting in 2000; therefore, they refuse to say whether he is President.....
Oh, if only that were true! - Reply to this comment
- The Nazis used to say that their "persuasive" techniques were innocent. So did the Soviets and every other repessive government since! Now we have neocons and government officials in this country saying the same thing. And Bush and all the neocon Republicans out there have the nerve to tell the world our brand of democracy is the best! When its backed up by terror at home in your own government, its not democracy!
SIG HEIL, BUSH!!! - Reply to this comment

- My uncle was a Norwegian resistance fighter during WWII. After being caught by the Germans he was subjected to waterboarding.
He lost all of the hair on his body to alopecia (stress is a common cause), he would only take hand baths, no showers or full baths and on warm summer sundays on the beach we used to tease him about never wanting to enter the water. After he died some years ago, I heard stories on how my aunt used to have to hold him some nights after he woke up in a cold sweat.

- According to John Dean in his book, ''Conservatives Without Conscience'' , authoritarians see the world as a competition in which the strong and righteous prevail and prosper; failure is tantamount to weakness or unworthiness. These authoritarians believe the world is dangerous and threatening, and the best way to fight %u201Cevil%u201D is through force. Social dominators, on the other hand, scoff at notions of equality and will move forward with little conscience or restraint. They don%u2019t believe much in right or wrong %u2013 it%u2019s more about what they can get away with. (If that seems harsh, notes Dean, this is not his view %u2013 it%u2019s how these people describe themselves when they undertake personality tests.)
More troubling than these categories are those who adopt the characteristics of the authoritarians AND the social dominators. These people are unaware of their own hypocrisies %u2013 consider the religious right%u2019s defense of detainee abuse, war, tax cuts for the wealthy and aid cuts for the poor %u2013 while believing their own motives not only right but necessary to win against a litany of enemies, including %u201Cliberals.%u201D Such people also have an uncanny ability to merely stop thinking about something if it doesn%u2019t fit in with their worldview. In addition, they are openly hostile and aggressive toward those who disagree with them. - Reply to this comment
