There are many like him, some claim to get their messages from a god, others from the Martians some from the little green gnomes in the garden. it is ludicrous to put one mans actions to what all Christians think just because one man who claims that he did it for god. does that mean that when there is a shoot out by some non religious person that all non Christians are responsible or crazy, or when a sports man rapes a girl that all sports men are rapists eh...

Over the months on this website, I''ve seen and participated in debates over various political, economical, and religious ideologies. I try and use the definitions of these ideologies based on those made by historians.

Sadly, each ideology seems to only be defined by those who have the control of a given country at the time.

For example:

Bush is not a Conservative, in the classical sense.

Castro''s Cuba is becoming less of a secular nation and now it''s increasingly accepting Catholocism. (Pope John Paul II wouldn''t have visited the island nation if he wasn''t going to have an audience)

So, Gaye5, I think we''re using classical definitions of each ideology correctly, but the current geo-political climate in the world has somewhat skewed those classical definitions.

I''m sure you may have thought about this, but I''ve often wondered what some devout Christians think about a guy named Eric Robert Rudolph.

Eric, known as the "Olympic Park Bomber", also bombed various abortion clinics and had killed 3 people and injured over 100 others.

Clearly he is a religious terrorist as well. But how many "Christians" defend him? How many reject him and his views?

It''s an interesting philosophical question to ask the most faithful among us. It also is a good test of true faith or just plain hypocracy.

There is no god. No god for Christians or Muslims or Jews or Hindi or Wicca or whoever. There never has been a god. It is a myth. Just like worshippers of Baal, Odin, Isis or Christ. They''re all just as silly as each other and all just as wrong, murderous, destructive and deadly to the human spirit. This is not some sort of biblical level clash between civilizations, though there are equally as bad fanatics on both sides that want it to be so. They want to be written up in the history books of their respective cults as defenders of the one "true" faith. they''re martyrs that want to kill others with them. Why does anyone bother to respond to swingingdick? he is a classic example of what is wrong with politics in America today. He is a fanatical follower of Bush not because he thinks Bush is a good man or is right for America or is even a good christian. He follows Bush because he is one of those lunatics that thinks god had put Bush on this earth as some sort of neo-messiah that will save Israel so they can rebuild the temple on the mount and thereby (in classic Indiana Jones style) magically bring about the 2nd coming of a human being that has been dead for 2000 years.
