Intel Reveals Al Qaeda's Rise Since 9/11; Homeland Security Chief Cites "Gut Feeling" About Attack
- tuckerndfw, you also have to add in that the U.S. military sucks at nation-building...and so does "w"...but he sucks in general. Good post otherwise.

- There are a couple of good things that is resulting from this fiasco.
One is that is has been conclusively demonstrated that the US military is totally ineffective being used in a "war on terror."
"Terrorism" is a tactic, it is not an enemy. Terrorists are criminals, they are not soldiers. Using the military to fight terrorists is similar to using a sledge hammer to drive staples.
It may get the immediate job done, but the results are less than satfisfactory.
And, second, it has been conclusively proven that "al qaida" poses no realistic threat to any nation.
George Bush is the worst president in US history and his general officers are as incompetent as he. - Reply to this comment
- There used to be a myth out there that the Republicans were good at national security and defense. Now, after 4 years of a war on terror, they've succeeding in growing the number of enemies we face along with reducing our popularity among our allies. Some myths don't survive the light of day.

..............
If the Democrats win both brances of government in 2008, then they will have the chance to completely debunk that myth you mentioned. Soon, it will be the art of diplomacy and building aliances that will win peace. The Democrats will have the chance to do this very soon I predict.
Soon, the myth of militaristic agression as a means for winning peace will die. (And may be featured on a special episode of 'Mythbusters'). - Reply to this comment

Why does Bush do what he does to our country:

- YEAH YEAH, every time BUSH needs saving from the media this scare tactic KRAP hits the news like a talk show host in San Francisco was saying tonight.
We may be dumb sheeple but these idiots cried wolf too many times.
Blow away morons, I'm not scared or concerned about your al quaida- more people die in car wrecks on California freeways every year than ever died on 9/11- do the research and math- your chances of being a victim of terrorist attacks are near zero, you stand a far greater chance of dying in a car wreck or home fire. - Reply to this comment

- If georgie had been able to ignore his obsession with Saddam, we wouldn't have become distracted as we were making real headway against bin Laden and al Qaida. But, our little dictator couldn't resist a pissing contest. We invaded Iraq and ignored al Qaida.
Bush is either utterly incompetent or he's actually an agent of al Qaida. It'd be hard to help them more without meaning to do so.
1. He sent bin Laden, al Qaida and Afghanistan to the back burner.
2. Disband the Iraqi army and security services so they couldn't stop al Qaida activity as they had.
3. He introduced US-Mexican style borders around Iraq, meaning you have to be able to walk, drive or ride to enter.
4. Allowed anarchy and civil war in Iraq, so al Qaida could finally set up operations there.
5. After almost 6 years, with unlimited resources, nobody's been able to find a 6' 5" tall man walking with a cane lugging a dialysis machine, its supplies and its generator through the mountains.
6. Provided al Qaida with the recruiting tools & easy access for their numbers to multiply.
7. He could help them more by funding them, with over $10 Billion in cash missing, who knows? - Reply to this comment
- 9/11 was an inside job. Call 'em foil hat wearing loonies, but seeing that they easily caught you red handed, what does that make you?

No sh it, Einstein.
I would say, the only place that is a surprise is in Bush's inner sanctum. - Reply to this comment

- So, Bush forgets about Afghanistan and Pakistan thereby allowing Al-Qaeda to regroup while he heads off to Iraq to create even more enemies. And this result is the reason that Cons think we should allow this strategy to keep moving forward?
The strategy that will ultimately cost us a trillion plus dollars and has already cost us thousands of
American lives just so we can grow the enemy is the what the Cons argue in favor of?
We are living in the Bizarro world. - Reply to this comment
- grazinggoat,
In the case of Lars008...
...When your argument is a loser... just copy and paste statements from more intelligent men and then find a link between their quotes and the current debate at hand.
I've realized that's the M.O. of people like Lars008. It's one thing to add a famous quote here and there to compliment your argument... but to use others' quotes as the entirety of one's argument, is nothing more than intellectual plagarism! - Reply to this comment
- I was just knocked down and nearly trampled at Home Depot, by 5 Fat, Sweaty, Neocons, fighting for the last roll of duct tape for sealing up their windows against the impending attack.....Oh, the humanity....

- Couldn't we just have a few colored lightbulbs installed in Mr. Chertoff's head, so we have a constant real-time readout of the current official fear level?

- War on Drugs........ LOSING
War on Terror........ LOSING
However, the war on poverty is going well for the Bush administration, as they're continually taking down more and more middle class Americans, (through various policies), and putting them in the "poor" column. - Reply to this comment
