Do you seriously put modern-day Muslim extremism in the same category as Christianity or Judaism? Because I note that Muslims were nowhere in your list of implied religious enemies of peace. Since the vast majority of this country overwhelmingly identify themselves as very religious, according to your logic the USA should be every bit as much a hotbed of atrocities committed in the name of God (aka the "tooth fairy" or "sky-father") as Iraq. Lets see they bombed the marines in Beirut, set the bomb at the World Trade Center, forced ATTA to fly into the world trade center, forced Saddam to invade Kuwait, forced Saddam to take those folks into the dessert and shot them. Foiling a bomb attempt is not luck for George Bush. These acts are likely to happen without George Bush. Put the blame where it belongs. It belongs squarely on Muslims who want to murder and create chaos. These people have no regard for life, only their cause. The western world got lucky, not Geoge Bush.

As a war vet (Vietnam) from America, I have to say that you're right on all three charges. However, do not blame the troops themselves. It's the madman at the White House who is doing it, not them. They are, unfortunately, just the unwilling tools he's using for his thefts, murders and other crimes of his administration. many of them are just as sick of it as anyone else and are not re-enlisting or joining in the first place.

Village disputes story of deadly attack

A group of villagers in Iraq is bitterly disputing the US account of a deadly air attack on 22 June, in the latest example of the confusion surrounding the reporting of combat incidents there. The BBC's Jim Muir investigates:
On 22 June the US military announced that its attack helicopters, armed with missiles, engaged and killed 17 al-Qaeda gunmen who had been trying to infiltrate the village of al-Khalis, north of Baquba, where operation "Arrowhead Ripper" had been under way for the previous three days.
The item was duly carried by international news agencies and received widespread coverage, including on the BBC News website.
But villagers in largely-Shia al-Khalis say that those who died had nothing to do with al-Qaeda. They say they were local village guards trying to protect the township from exactly the kind of attack by insurgents the US military says it foiled. They say that of 16 guards, 11 were killed and five others injured - two of them seriously - when US helicopters fired rockets at them and then strafed them with heavy machinegun fire.
Minutes before the attack, they had been co-operating with an Iraqi police unit raiding a suspected insurgent hideout, the villagers said.
