gatortracks, I completely support all our troops overseas, but respectfully, you should keep in mind that the C in C makes the policies in connection with the Congress, and you, like the rest of us, have to live with those policies.

I for one believe that we never should have pulled out of Afghanistan before the job was done, leaving Osama Bin Laden alive and well, and a lot of others in the US believe the same way. I'm hoping that with some balance in the US government now, Bush will work with the armed forces to implement a military policy that assures us security while minimizing interference. And hopefully we'll reinstate the group Bush closed down that was searching for Bin Laden and bring him to justice.

I certainly think no left wing person who is suggesting we pull out of Iraq need feel any shame. Actually John Murtha is suggesting that and I certainly belive him over many others. No one involved is saying we just cut & run. If it will result in a better solution to move the troops to bordering countries or maybe have them secure the borders while the Iraqis fight for their own freedom, there's nothing chicken or shameful about that. How smart is it to have 150,000 guys up against basically an unlimited number of people hiding and taking pot shots at them?

You can also militarily stay in every country there is and their (terrorist) buiness will increase. They are completely xenophobic (fear and hatred of foreigners). There is also and endless supply of young muslim men who will go to fight to kick out any foreign armies (they come from India, Pakistan, etc). The only military solution would be to exterminate almost everyone on the continent. I don't think that's going to happen. This is a very complicated situation and is going to take a lot of political, carrots, sticks, etc to get solved. Initially there was to be carrot side on the bush agenda to get these available young men on a more positve course, but that never happend.....
