Declassified Intel Report Calls Iraq War A 'Cause Celebre' For Islamic Extremists
(CBS/AP) A declassified government intelligence report says the war in Iraq has become a "cause celebre" for Islamic extremists, breeding deep resentment of the United States that is likely to get worse before it gets better.
...And Bush denies this, brushing it off as a leak induced for political purposes? I don't need a study to know that this invasion of Iraq has been the greatest boost for terrorism, it's like an ad for Al qaeda, like a long infomercial. The war with Iraq is all the terrorists need, they are recruiting more for their cause than the US Army can muster for Bush. The only way we can calm these turbulent times is to put Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld in prison for war crimes, or at least for LYING to the American public in order to get their war.Imagine how much dignity we can gain back by making examples of them. The United States is losing everything great that we stood for. It's simply a nightmare to have a president that actually upholds torture. I'm sick of reading about 21 year old's getting killed over Bush's oil war. And for Bush to stand at a podium with President Karzai, and evade the obvious TRUTH, that the Iraqi war is like a breeding ground for terrorists, sending our young children to their deaths in order to continue this senseless war, it's simply appalling.- Reply to this comment
- How come the written article and the video clip are so different in tone? The material seems lucid, and even weakly challenging of Bush's deceptions. The video is a straight kiss on Bush's butt.Where was any challenge to Bushland and the Emrald City in Iraq where we grow Freedom and Democracy and Victory over Evil?
Lies are a black and white thing. Not a balanced viewpoint thing.
President Geroge Bush, Our Commander-in-Chief, is a liar, a failure and a coward. An ancient land is being ruined. Iraq has become a nightmare of chaos and fear and this damned ignoramous won't admit it. Not stupid, no mean cunning, but a fool and cruel.
Our army is in tatters, our influence is evaporating in Asia and elsewhere. Our army is as close to screaming as I have ever seen the serious men of our armed forces. They are masking a crisis by shielding a liar. - Reply to this comment
- How can you fight terrorism by killing people? Terrorism is a thought process that is taught. It isn't something physical that can be bombed and destroyed. You can kill terrorists but that only makes them martyrs in the minds of other terrorists. I feel to fight terrorism, you need to educate the people and change the thought process that leads to terrorism. Being bullies isn't going to do it.

"One of the greatest tragedies of our existence is that we are a people united by so many common goals, but divided by so many uncommon beliefs.
I believe that our goals are more important. We all want to be free. We all want our children to be healthy and happy. Most all of us want peace so long as our own rights are protected.
These are the ideals that we can all strive for together. These are the threads of humanity that cannot be torn apart."

- If i had confidence the democrats (and John Mccain and co.) actually gave a *** about the war on terror, it might not be that big of a deal if they got elected, but I have no confidence they care about it at all when they are go after Wal-Mart, ranting about global warming, trying to loosen interregation standards on terrorists, putting down our troops, criticizing those in power all day every day, trying to get out of Iraq, and constantly defending muslims at every turn.
I wish this war was not turned into a political issue, but it has been because the democrats CHOSE to OPPOSE IT. Sure unforseen things have happened, but that doesnt mean we give IRAQ to the terrorists....does it? Why should we give into them because they dont like the war, that is ludacris.
Every American should support our troops and since are troops are in Iraq for one reason (the mission- liberating Iraq, promoting the democracy, and killing Islamoterrorists) we should support them in their mission. - Reply to this comment
- It continues to amaze me that despite all the news about how bad things are in Iraq, and now he has even the "Intelligence" people and military brass against him, the Prophet George refuses to believe anything except what he wants to! Isn't this the same Prophet George who said God talked to him in the Rose Garden and told him to invade Iraq? Or maybe, as the old Flip Wilson routine goes and recently given some truth by the president of Venzeula, "I didn't do it; the devil made me do it!!!".

- I believe we should listen to the leaders of the Muslim coutries. I am sure the CIA knows who can be trusted and who can not. And if they don't, than that agency is a drag on the american pocket book. Anyway, let's ask these leaders what their people want. This is there way of life; not ours. We love being Americans. The world knows by now, I'm sure, what Freedom stands for. If they want our lifestyle they will have to make it happen and the Muslum Countries should help them. The world now knows that Freedom is Alive. Now let's get on with our own people and issues that needs out attention and money!!! Let's protect ourselves and clean up our government. Stop allowing overspending and lame excuses for it. Let's get back some of own Freedoms which are being infringed upon.

- It seems that not only does Mr. Bush have trouble pronouncing Nu-cle-ar, but he must have flunked physics as well. Newton's third law says it all..."for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction". We didn't invade Iraq in a vacuum, and the response to our shock and awe campaign was not immediate. It was more subdued initially, but in time, the reaction of the Iraqi people proved to be at least opposite, if not entirely equal. The efforts of the "Liepublicans" to distort the elemental laws of geopolitical physics defy not only logic, but history. Unfortunately, we have met the enemy, and partly, it is us. Is it any wonder we are breeding more terrorists by our efforts than we can reasonably extinguish?

- From SearingTruth's "A Future of the Brave" -
My fellow citizens, twice we have fallen. Towers by enemies without, and freedom by enemies within.
It is a disheartening truth that terrorists didn't steal our dignity, liberty, and freedom, Republicans did.
Few knew that when the Republican Party declared a war on culture many decades ago, they meant a war on the culture of American liberty itself.
For it is not by accident that we find ourselves left today with only one heinously corrupt branch of government; an executive branch which openly and proudly violates every principal, and fulfills every fear, of our revered founding fathers. And it is not by chance that the Republican Party facetiously exclaims that it has simply always been this way, and we just never noticed.
And of course, our new dictatorship has nothing to do with "terrorism".
For 225 years America had fought many external enemies, far more powerful than those we fight today, without abandoning our Constitutional form of government.
In fact, wielding the moral right and might embodied within our Constitution had always naturally defeated any enemy espousing philosophies of tyranny and oppression.

- So if it can be "Declassified" instantly at President's Bush's whim then it must not actually contain information that was vital to US Security to begin with...
The quick "declassification" shows it was only "classified" because it was EMBARRASSING to the Bush White House. - Reply to this comment

- You got to admit, thats pretty ridiculous. These are mass murderers have American political debates after they promote people blowing themselves up for the glory of ALLAH. Now that would be an interesting news story from the "mainstream" media. Fox might cover it, who knows.

- Look what else Al Qeada is complaining about and justifying their actions...lol, this is all true and publish in their reader.
1. Enviornment: failure of America to sign Kyoto
2. Bush reading a goat story on 911?!?!?
3. Halliburton..... (sound familiar)
They are using the libs talking points, WOW
Who is inspiring who?
Why doesnt CBS cover this??
"I am going through the rough draft of a new Al-Qaeda reader this morning, translated and edited by Raymond Ibrahim, soon to be released by Doubleday. What do Dr. Zawahri and bin Laden complain about from their caves in Pakistan? Why, of course, the American failure to sign Kyoto, our desecration of the environment, George Bush reading a goat story on the morning of 9/11, Halliburton, and%u2014that critically-important concern of radical Islam%u2014 the lack of campaign finance reform in the United States. Much of their rants are simply jottings and notes taken from watching Fahrenheit 9/11 and killing time in hideouts by listening to talking heads on CNN."

- "We are all capable of believing things which we know to be untrue, and then, when we are finally proved wrong, impudently twisting the facts so as to show that we were right. Intellectually, it is possible to carry on this process for an indefinite time: the only check on it is that sooner or later a false belief bumps up against solid reality, usually on a battlefield."

- Condi is a liar, she stated in the 9/11 hearings that a plan was passed on from the previous adminstration.Second if anyone here has read AGAINST ALL ENEMIES they would know that it was not until 1999 that they figured out who was responsible for all the different attacks on U.S. soldiers and embassy's. The bombing of the Cole clinched it.Clinton went after Bin laden and Al Queda would have completed the job if the republican party would not have moan and groaned that it was an escape goat for the Lewinsky affair. So even though the democratic party got suckered gy the lies of WMD along with vast majority of Americans that Bush had fabricated(Colin Powell has almost completely confirmed this)lets give them a chance and vote Democratic because stay the course is like riding a blind horse down a mountain.Contribute whatever dollar amount you can afford to the Democratic Party and speak out armed with facts that Bush,Rove,Cheney and rumsfield cannot rebuke without putting their foot in their mouth. If the Democratic Party should failto deliver then let us start another party one that embraces American values and protects America from terrorist and greedy corporations. Also the NIE report only proves that Bush has created more terrorist by invading Iraq.

- NO KIDDING...lol. DID you think the terrorists were just gonna give up?? Of COURSE, THE ISLAMO FACISTS WILL USE THEIR PROPAGANDA MACHINE TO INSPIRE OTHERS...LOL. Did they need to use our tax dollars to make a report for that??? Anyone who has common sense could figure that out... so whats the point?
We should leave so we stop "inspiring" the terrorists? We should leave because we are "offending" muslims??
Why dont we become like the french and make special areas for ISLAMONAZIS to live and practice their own law? Why dont we act like ENGLAND and consult a pannel of Muslims before we raid an area....this is ridiculous? - Reply to this comment
