"Orcas are a highly social species.

But "the vast majority of the orca whales in captivity would be far better off to be returned to the wild. Orcas are unbelievably ill-suited to life in theme parks and can be successfully returned to the wild. We know, because we have done it," says David Phillips, director of the International Marine Mammal Project for the Earth Island Institute, who led the effort to rescue, rehabilitate, and release the killer whale Keiko, made famous in the movie "Free Willy." "Orcas deserve a better fate than living in cramped pools.

Mr. Phillips recalls that Keiko went from languishing in small pool in Mexico City all the way to swimming with wild whales in his native waters in Iceland. He ended up swimming to Norway and living there in a bay with some human care until he died. Phillips says the public would be better served by seeing orcas in the wild and ensuring their protection there."

THE KILLER WHALE DOES NOT NEED A LAWYER...HE WAS DOING WHAT HE IS NATURALLY BORN TO DO EVEN THOUGH IT WAS PROBABLY PLAYING...HIS WAY.
THESE MAGNIFICENT CREATURES SHOULD NEVER BE HELD IN CAPTIVITY THEY BELONG IN THE OCEAN NOT A POOL !!
I WOULD SAY THE MONEY GRUBBING OWNER SHOULD NEED A LAWYER.

The answer is to stop kidnapping these Orcas.

Tilikum was kidnapped off Iceland at two years of age.

In whale terms, that's about the same age Jaycee Dugard was when she was kidnapped by Phillip Garrido.

Stop kidnapping Orcas and let them live in freedom.

Many people have a very juvenile mentality when it comes to dealing with animals and this especially includes the trainers. They humanize them forgetting that they are animals and turn them into entertainment objects. What is the study of whales doing for helping mankind? If we're just studying them to study them, then stop wasting the time and money doing so. I'm not an animal-rights proponent, but do feel that no animals should be in captivity. Let them live or die in their natural habitats without any human intervention whatsoever, even to the extent that the specie becomes extinct. I feel Sea World is responsibility for this third death of a human by the same animal. It took it in for breeding purposes and entertainment purposes to make money all the while knowing the animal's history. It is as much responsible for the death of this trainer as the animal itself. Authorities should force the removal of the killer whale or euthanized and destroyed. The animal hasn't any real purpose and shouldn't be treated like it has any rights. We also need to stop humanizing animals and making them cute objects of entertainment, especially these deadly behemoths.

"...would this British Columbia company be taking tourists just offshore in little rubber boats to meet the Orcas close up..."

I unintentionally mischaracterized that video.

Their narratie states:

"We'd like like to let everyone know that we have been in contact with the DFO (Department of Fisheries and Oceans) as they had some concerns about this video.

We assured them that our intentions that day were NOT to intentionally place ourselves in the middle of whales, but rather head out in hopes that we might witness them passing by from a safe distance.

"L-POD" were spaced out about 1km in diameter, which placed us amongst them before we even knew it as they were close to shore and moving very quickly. We felt that we didn't have the ability to safely move out of the way nor did we have the time. They appeared around us as quickly as it started. There were fishing vessels and a whale watching boat near us, so we felt we were doing the proper thing by just staying where everyone else was.

West Coast Outdoor Adventure Rentals does not rental kayaks for the Strait of Juan de Fuca and are only used in the Sooke Harbour and Basin. These were not rented, we were on our own time."

"Does the Killer Whale Need a Lawyer?"

Of course not.

Sharks and Orcas are natural enemies.

"Sharks and Orcas are natural enemies."

Shark: a lawyer. (Slang; derogatory.). "Some shark is trying to squeeze a few grand out of me."

There is an extensive narrative about this video, along with a disclaimer about the safety issues involved.

You can read it by clicking the "More info" tab to the right of the video:

Yesterday some poster was trying to say that the only reason wild Orcas don't attack human beings in that they stay out in "deep water" where humans seldom are.

That is unscientific balderdash, because Orcas prefer coastal areas.

Now ask yourself -- would this British Columbia company be taking tourists just offshore in little rubber boats to meet the Orcas close up, if Orcas were savage dangerous beasts only found way out at sea ?

See for yourself:

Watch out for fabricated videos of Orca "attacks" on human beings.

No wild Orca has ever been documented to have killed a human being, although my previous video shows that humans routinely come in close contact with them.

Here's proof of the fakery:

This is sad misfortune to deal with. But,has anyone noticed that this animal has the word Killer in its' name. Enough Said.
============================================

Another functional illiterate has spoken.

Educated people refer to them as Orcas. No wild Orca has ever been documnented as having killed a human being.

They're only called "killer whales" because Pliny the Elder called them that, in his "Encyclopedia of Natural Science", 2,000 years ago.

"Pliny's contributions to natural science were concerned with legendary animals and unsupported folklore. Along with unsupported claims, fables, and exaggerations, Pliny's belief in magic and superstition helped shape scientific and medical theory in subsequent centuries."

A modern encyclopedia, Columbia Encyclopedia, says, "Pliny's information is mostly secondhand and quite useless as science."
