Only a Repug would fail to understand what's currently going on - still believing it's some handout while there are still tens of Millions of FELLOW AMERICANS without coverage, especially in a country that prides itself in being a world leader. This is not about people's money but ensuring that the same money that's always been traditionally spent for others is spent right here for Americans. Most Repugs will justify the Iraq Debacle and the Trillions spent there but will never agree to provide the $50 billion needed to provide health coverage to most Americans because they believe that an Illegal or their American offspring might get it too - all based on HATE and FEAR. luadda, those IOU's have to be paid back, that is money we borrowed to finance the "Trickle Down" insanity. The problem is that those IOU's do not cover the Bommer Generation and THAT we must deal with. Social Security is a program that has benefited the American People for decades, giving some the only pension they have. It's easy for those who care none about those folks to want to destroy it but it should be obvious to those folks by now, that the People of this country are NOT going to allow that. We must fix the system and do so BEFORE it becomes yet another in the ENORMOUS mountain of problems the Incompetent Republican's have left on the burner for THREE decades.

I think it's a wonderful thing that "independents" now outrank either pure Dems or pure Repubs. It's about time that we started thinking for ourselves and make sound, logical choices vice strictly partisan. Sure, there will still be plenty of dittohead repubs on the right and Pink Party and GLBT fringes on the left, but America has to be for all of us not just the radical fringes. Most of us don't hate others just becuase of their party affiliation or voting patterns. Thank goodness we are growing as a society and as a nation. As for those uninformed blame gamers that think the Dems bankrupted social security - pls study a little, learn and get real. The financial collapse - - again, not sure where you've been for the 8 years before the new administration and congress but time to doth your rumplestiltskin PJs and join the real world. What does anyone have against a person having a real choice between types of medical insurance? I'd prefer to be able to choose what's best for me and my family, including a public type of plan. I don't mind paying for it but the HMOs are as or more greedy than the freewheeling CEOs in the financial sector that stole so many people life savings and retirements accounts. I don't trust the CEOs of the health care industry and pharmaceutical conglomerates any more than I trust the last group of elites that took us down the wrong path and had us all sipping purple kool-aide.

palin apparently has the republican base in her pocket. if each of those republicans donate 20% of their monthly income, before taxes, to palin then she might have the financial base to reach and acquire her "higher calling", whatever that means to her and the republican base. 7 out of 10 republicans would still vote for her, even though she quit. wondering what does that say about the republicans, base or not, and palin? wondering too, if palin has the ability to really learn and expand her knowledge base of the world, world politics, the usa and its politics, global issues, usa issues?

Don't blame Fox News or Rush for feeding a need that quite a few in the right have for their product. That these people are malleable and eager to hate their fellow countrymen due to race, creed, religion, gender orientation, political affiliation, etc is not the fault of the media--they are just exploiting it--they simply found a very ugly yet viable vein of ignorance to tap into. If you must blame anyone for the division, blame the politicians and parties for it. We can start with the racial tactics used during the Willie Horton scare, work our way through Bush saying McCain had a child by a black prostitute, icing the whole thing with swift boating Kerry, then swing around to some Maccaca sprinkles from Allen, the commercials used against Harold Ford and add a large helping of torture and wars based on lies while calling all who opposed it ---traitors or unpatriotic as the final cherry.

THOSE things did not come from the media. The far right would not be selling their products of hate and vaguely hidden racism and bigotry if there was not a ready market for it. The Republicans are reaping what they sow--as for America--like every other drug addict who indulges in evil that pollutes--we have to hit rock bottom, then due to our disgust,; ESCHEW the offerings from such a venal and craven/hypocritical party. That may be now--it may not be--but certainly at least 18% of Americans have not hit this bottom, they are in the mud and poo--reveling in the texture--the smell and depravity of where they revel has not hit them yet.

As i said before,regardless of which party you support the current poisoned political atmosphere is the creation of the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Rupert Murdoch, & the Fox News Crowd.They have absolutly no intention of promoting any political compromise in this country.They could care less about the Middle Class, the Working Poor, or the unemployed or uninsured through nofault of their own in this Country. Even as a registered Democrat I still respect most Republicans, as i hope they would respect me!I also believe they need to get beyond Ronald Reagan. God Bless him but he is Long gone.What i think we need much more of today are MODERATE Republicans & Democrats who are pragmatic, respect one another,& can compromise with one another to get things done for our country!This Liberal/Conservative nonsense,is what is killing this country!
