New Republic: Can Anyone Beat Ahmadinejad In This Week's Election?
- And I bet CBS news is wondering why they are struggling for ratings. They just don't get it. I hope the advertisers are paying attention to the dropping viewers numbers.

- This article is sick. There is a reason CBS in on the bottom of the network pile.
Shame shame shame. - Reply to this comment
- This article is sick, disgusting & reprehensible. Little wonder that CBS (Continual Blather System) is sinking so fast in the ratings. The msm does not believe American people have the ability to think for themselves & so produce such garbage thinking they can lead us like a flock of sheeple to their twisted way of thinking. This "journalist" does not deserve to work for the Enquirer (which is a lot more accurate these days than CBS).

- Our economy sank when Dems took control of congress 2 years ago. You may want to remind yourself that congress spends the money, not the president. Second, Imawackjob is a leftist, not a conservative. Conservatives, by definition want less government and government intervention and control. Imawackjob, as Obama , wants more government and government control.
At least be honest. - Reply to this comment
- What garbage. Spare us the partisan dreck and try covering the news accurately for a change.

- If I had any belief in honest journalism at CBS, I'd be appalled. This is just the continued Pavlovian response. The bell rings, bash Bush. And here we thought, from the media, that the Messiah's Cairo speech was going to make big changes in Iran. It didn't, so bring on some Bush bashing.

- "Freedom for those who've fought for it has a flavor the protected will never know"
I am saddened by the complacency the left has taken toward the protection of our Freedom from Democracy. Stop believing our "presidential" representative was the reason for our most serious problems NOR the salvation either. It's the elephant in the room so I'll just say it to be clear....Obama is NOT the next Jesus Christ! Bush never pretended to make you believe he would cure all your problems and he should be respected for that. He made decisions and at least took a stance for his beliefs. I can't tell what our current president stands for from his beliefs because he's too busy trying to satisfy everyone elses'. I don't hate Obama or like him. Time will tell from results. The results of Bush was an offensive one at one of the one of Americas worst times of vunerability in it's history. How he could have done it better can be debated but what cannot is the security we had when he was in charge. Security is something the liberals only miss when they are violated. This, represented in the overwhelming support after 911 to "do something" from the left and then a quick U turn when they had the safety to questions the means it was provided. I don't blame the Sleazy tactics that are used by the bias media outlets because they are a business. If they don't generate readers/viewers, their profits fall. If you want truth you must seek it with an analytical and intellectual mind, open to contrasting views. Not the case anymore with many media outlets.
Wake up America. We have all taken our freedom forgranted. It is slowly being taken away because we are too afraid to confront our own mistakes, so we turn to the government to do it for us out of convience.
To the liberals: Be grateful you have a platform to speak your opinions. You do it on the backs of my friends I lost while serving our country in what ever capacity we were needed. You do it because of the selfless service of those currently putting their famlies and lives on hold for a commitment they made to their governments decision. See this as the brick and mortar for which your comments should build upon, not tear down.
To the Conservatives: I too am frightened at the prospect that the Government is assuming more control over our liberties than ever before. Our rights (for now) are still intact and we should use our resources to creatively achieve balance. To keep the government at bay, we must first govern ourselves. Competition by name calling and labeling will just perpetuate the decisions of ignorance. Try educating the opposition on the intellectual level.
ALL AMERICANS: We are at a crucial time where we should unite with a common "WIN-WIN" purpose or we will fall as a divided country. The problems we all face now are a joint responsibility and a lack of standards. We should not tolerate hate or argument for the sake of just argument. I'll say it: We are all wrong; we can effectively fix it together.
Leaders: Step the hell up or suffer the consequences in the fall of a once glorious Empire. - Reply to this comment
- You should be ashamed of yourself Laura Secor.

- So many curse words keep boiling up from your idiotic headline. I've really lost a lot of respect for CBS.
Last one out, turn off the lights. - Reply to this comment
- I may not have agreed with many things President Bush did while in office, but I feel comparing him to Ahmadinejad a Holocaust denier among a number of other things is ludicrous and uncalled for. Let the writer try living in Iran and see what life is like there compared to here, see how womens rights are, or how about gay rights? What was that Ahmadinejad said on his visit to the U.S, there were no gays in Iran? Sure there are, they're just too afraid to let anyone know for fear of being hanged.

- Sunk to a new low. You guys are a piece of work. Still sore over Dan Blather? Just go put on a cardigan sweater and sing Kumbaya around a CRT.
It's the only solace you're going to get.
David Sluggerman will be next. He can sell tickets to his pacemaker replacement after he gets his nose out of the air. It's sad to see the once mighty Tiffany Network hit an all time low in ratings, class and style.

- It is stunning to see this ugly political bigotry, create such a misguided effort published by the New Republic and further distributed by CBS. Ms. Secor represents a truly vapid conception, lost in a partisan hatred. It is sad to see.
"Ahmadinejad has made a mess of the economy, clamped down on political dissent and social freedoms, militarized the state, and earned the enmity of much of the world." - Laura Secor.
The malfeasance created in the Mortgage Industry, made a mess of the US Economy, and much of it ironically began with the exploitation of Fanny and Freddie by the Democratic Party. No one clamped down upon "dissent and social freedoms" in the USA during the Bush Administration's tenure, as Code Pink even protested in Capital Dome repeatedly and freely. Neither did anyone 'militarize' the STATE of the USA, during the Bush Administration. Yes, a few European Governments, such as France, Russia, and Germany, etc., were opposed to the USA and 40 other Nations using force to liberate the oppressed Iraqi People, but we now know, they held a sincere conflict of interest with various financial contracts with the brutal Regime of Saddam Hussein.
The juvenile comparison of this Iranian Despot, with a former US President is as pathetic as it gets. This is sophistry in the very lowest. A true embarrassment for all.
The reality is, GW Bush, whether Ms. Secor realizes or not, led the World to liberate over 50 Million human beings formerly oppressed in Afghanistan and Iraq. This US President also helped lead the effort to aid the people of Afghanistan and Iraq to create their own Democracies, and so far, at this early stage, it grows with more and more potential. - Reply to this comment
- Who's running CBS now, Keith Olbermann?

- This is a despicable comparison. I have had it with this network's low standards of journalism.

- You are down to 5 million people watching your evening news. When you find yourself in a hole you should stop digging. I'm sure you won't though and so I would like to take this opportunity to say goodbye to the network of Edward R. Murrow and Opie.

- Wow, I can't believe someone would publish such an article.

- Laura Secor is a useful idiot, but CBS lacks all conscience and objectivity in publishing this dreck. As for the posters who compare Ahmadinejab to George Bush, well apparently you don't understand that life in Iran is vastly different from life in the US. You do all live in your tiny little liberal worlds, carefully examining your belly buttons, wishing for a utopia and refusing to grown up. You should all be on Twitter tonight as those poor people in Iran are tweeting the bloody revolution going on. Seriously, Communists were right when they coined the term "useful idiot". You are.

- This article is disgusting. The author's comparison reveals their bias, dismissal of facts, and blatant disrespect for our country. I guess CBS hopes to cater to all of the "Bush = Hitler" crowd. Pitiful.
