Guest Column: Stephen Baldwin & Kevin McCullough: America doesn't want its pot.. American potheads do!
- We are the biggest police state in the world. Why should the country with 5% of the world's population have 25% of the world's prison population? Are Americans inherently evil?

Don't forget that that prison population is disproportionately made up of minorities. Which does lead the rest of the world to wonder if Americans are inherently evil. - Reply to this comment
- "So, it prohibition isn't keeping anybody from using pot then what's the benefit?"
There is no real benefit. There are only political benefits to prohibition. One major one is creating the illusion of 'being tough (rather than effective?) on crime' and another is the amount of lobbied money involved in keeping the law enforcement industry as large as possible.

- Marijuana is NOT a gateway drug. Aspirin and coffee are. The first time you take a pill to kill pain or the first time you suck down a cup of coffee in the morning to get you going, you are showing your children how to solve problems with drugs, your headache or the pep you need in the morning to function.
Grow up and accept YOUR responsibility for your kids' drug use, you screaming hypocrite. Don't impede on someone else's right to the pursuit of happiness.
Hypocritical wankers.
Your kids are taking drugs from your own medicine cabinet, you know, far easier to find than marijuana. And free! - Reply to this comment
- If pot were legalized would a segment of the population - which had previously not consumed pot because of its illegal status - begin using it?

That's yet another myth with no basis in reality. In Amsterdam pot is legal and this has not lead to an increase in usage among the people who live there. I actually read that there are fewer teens using it there than in America. Put it this way. If crack was legalized would you go out and start smoking crack? I know I wouldn't!Posted by gunownerdan

- For crying out loud, dang, cocaine and cocoa are not only different plant species, they are in different families.
FYI, the apocalypse did not happen when we repealed alcohol prohibition. It will not happen when we repeal cannabis prohibition. Stop being a small-government-yet-control-the-people-through-government hypocrite.
Your Harry Anslinger seance has run its course. Please just stop with the fear-mongering already. - Reply to this comment
- I also learned that coca has numerous positive health effects. Why not legalize coca while we are at it?
