That's the problem with this party now.... Why are most Republicans resistant to change?

"What Specter?s defection really underscores is an allegiance by many to the 'Party of Incumbency' rather than to the Party they claim to represent, be it Republican or Democrat. It's this kind of soulless pragmatism that turns people off to politics and helps perpetuate a ruling class more loyal to themselves than to the people who elected them. "

Exactly,.........I claim to be an Independent, but it is getting to the point that I am sick of politics and politicians altogether.

To Gov. Sanford ---- A pig is a pig no matter how much lipstick and rouge you put on it. The American electorate rejected the principles and codes you say the Republican party champions in 2006 and 2008 as it will in 2010 and 2012.

You and your Republican peers continue to make the very big mistake of trying to sell to the American people what you think they need rather than what they want to buy.

Wow, this story has good legs, who'd a thought that the story of how Republicans can be fixed could be so tittling for Democrats. I so touched that you all care and want to spend your time on the other party rather than the important issue of today. Congratulations, the "Rush" you get talking about Republicans is funny. The fact that their is piddly posters on the other stories and that this one holds the most comments speaks for itself. Finally, Democrats I don't want to fix you or change your mind, but I do want to debate you on the "real" issues.

"This is about fundamental beliefs and values and ideas ? what the role of government should be in our society, and our commitment to the Constitution and constitutional principles," Cheney said....
----
Commitment to the Constitution?

Cheney has the audacity to claim a commitment to the Constitution?

It's a wonder his teeth didn't fall right out of his mouth during the interview.....

Repubs apparently aren't good at math.

They think they can win elections with a base that's about 28% of the voting public.

Good luck with that......

Yeah! Listen to Cheney and the American people will greet the GOP as liberators and shower them with roses! LOL!
