The New Republic: We Must Confront The Fact That Race Is Not The Only Reason Obama Could Lose
- There is very little racial bias. The only racial problem we have in this election is that media and Obama campaign have created an image that if you vote for McCain and Palin, you are a racist. I am Indian, nether black nor white, and I like McCain and Palin. My wife will not admit in public for fear of being called racist. We are thrilled with Palin. She came up this far from a humble background, without Affirmative Action help (that Barrack and Michelle got to go to Princeton and Harvard), with five children, $125000 family income in 2006, simply outstanding. We like to see her in the White House like Indira Gandhi.
McCain and Palin are running a very clean campaign Unlike Barrack Obama, who is on TV every five minutes and making up clearly false stories about McCain. Obama is making up so many stories that it will be impossible for anyone to counter those. He probably feels that he thinks he has right to lie because he is black. - Reply to this comment
- No matter the winner ,a huge # of middle class voters will have voted to hurry their childrens move to the ranks of the poor.Delusions from the propaganda system are that strong.

- What a stupid article with intent to raise doubt about Obama. Why not if "McCain loses do not assume it was because he ran a dishonest campaign and is an angry, confused old man with cancer who lacks judgement for his Palin pick" Why not write a story like that New Republic??? The New Republic and other racist main stream media will cleverly smear Obama in the last weeks in the hopes for a McCain win. It has already started.

- Could Obama win BECAUSE he is black, and gets the black vote because of race and not because of his ability to lead?

- If Obama loses, suspect Republican sponsored voter registration purges.

- They are right. it could be right wing media/war profiteer/big corporate fascism too that might cause Obama to lose.

- Racism IS NOT possible because race DOES NOT exist. It does not matter if Obama loses because he is nothing more than an individual. He is not a representative for any group in the states.
Additionally, there should be no fuss anyways because we all know that Diversity is strength. No... in fact, it is our GREATEST strength! Shame on you for writing an article that makes diversity seems like our biggest weakness. - Reply to this comment
- mrcrosby12....Many women supported Hillary Clinton simply because she is a woman. This country has been ruled to long by white middle age men.Women and minorities want to see change.Although I was not a supporter of Clinton I would be open to voting for any qualified women or minority to be president of this country. We now live in a very multicultural country. The time for change has come. The rest of the world will react positively to the new direction of this country
For clarification I am a 52 year male independent voter supporting Obama/Biden. - Reply to this comment
- If a black man gets into the white house, the blacks in this country will become even worse with their attitude than they already are. No one owes blacks anything. Blacks owe the taxpayers a fortune for all the hand outs they''''ve received over the last 40 years.
Obama should lose this election. He has no qualifications of real merit, lacks any experience, has no real Planks in his platform, and is depending on the black vote to get in. Obama is who brought up race, not the whites! There are more bigoted blacks than there are whites. Blacks will vote him in "yo man, a brutha is runninna and we all gotta ve-ote the man in" never mind we all don no wha he iz standin fo, and it not be like a nappy headed ho!! He iz a brutha, and tha is all. Ignoramisses!
How about the Hispanic vote? Who has talked to them lately?

You are an idiot. I don''t believe for a minute that a majority of Republicans are racist, but comments like yours make it easy to stereotype your party as racist. You''re not helping your side at all.
And I doubt you really care about the Hispanics, either. - Reply to this comment
- Twice we elected Presidents who were young and highly inexperienced. They were good at speaking, charismatic and used slogan like in 1992 %u201CIt%u2019s Economy Stupid%u201D and in 2000 %u201CCompassionate Conservative%u201D to win people over. And see what last 16 years has brought us. Do we want to elect again another President who is young and has NO Experience? I mean literally NO Experience. I mean this will be the 3rd time we are going to make same mistake if we fall for the slogan %u201CChange %u2026 Yes We Can%u201D. The real change this time should be %u201CExperience over Inexperience". This is real Change ... Experience. Change is electing someone who has experience, who has paid his dues to serve the country first, not only in military but also public service and then asking to be President. One who has gone through crisis, handled the crisis, faced the crisis, and participated in resolving the crisis with his fellow political colleagues (Democrats and Republicans). Believe me we will need a person who has gone through this kind of experience than one who has not.
Ask yourself that would you like an important position say a manager or a CEO of a company to be a person with little or no experience. If the answer is NO then please folks Vote for Experience, person who has the most experience. I urge folks to really sit back and think and not let charismatic speech and statements and slogans without substance influence their choice. - Reply to this comment
