Rich Lowry, this article really is "rich". Let me tell you why this article shows a Republican double standard, if not hypocrisy. As Governor Sarah Palin noted in her "debate" with Senator Joe Biden, "like, how long have I been at this, five weeks?" The most unknown candidate of the four in the presidential race is Governor Palin, whether she makes you sit up straighter on your couch or not. There is much less known about her -- your candidate -- than Senator Obama or Biden. What is her relationship to the Alaska Secessionist Party? Her husband, or co-governor, was a member until one month before she was named Republic VP nominee. She taped a message for the party -- why have we not seen it on TV or in your column raising questions about her patriotism? Is it believable that a Governor found to have abused her power will bring change and reform to a Washington about which she knows nothing? She admitted not even knowing anything about the job she apparently accepted "without blinking" (hard to imagine since she blinks and winks so much). And what about the cronyism and nepotism, firing critics, hiring friends and treating Tod Palin as if he is co-governor on confidential government matters. This is all very peculiar stuff for serious conservatives. No wonder Christopher Buckley, Susan Eisenhower and Lilibet Hagel all have endorsed the smart and steady leadership of Senator Barack Obama. You, too, can come on board. That would be rich!

"Who is the Real Barack Obama?" is not a serious question. Most Americans do not even know their neighbours as well as they know Senator Barack Obama. Who was the real Ronald Reagan? The one who voted against the civil rights act or voter registration act? And/or the one who open doors with Russia during a time of glasnost and perestroika? Who is the real John McCain? The one who voted against the Martin Luther King Jr holiday or the one who railed against the Katrina disaster? Who is the real Sarah Palin? The one who abused power to get her former brother-in-law fired, was mayor when raped victims had to pay for own forensic exams, accepted earmarks to build a bridge to nowhere -- and/or the person who took on the old boys network in Alaska and mobilized the Republican base for McCain? Conservatives do not like complex thinking, obviously, and in their rhetorical questions about Senator Obama are meant to imply there is something hidden and mysterious. It is shameful xenophobic pandering and it should stop. This is, afterall, post-civil rights 21st century America and not the dark ages.

Don''''t make the same foolish mistake that those countries made - if we allow Obama into the White House, so goes the future of the United States.

Obama has more integrity in his little toe than all the McBushies put together. Reading some of these posts I feel compelled to appeal to everyone''s responsibility to stop buying into right wing extremist propaganda (e.g., McCain/Palin KKK rallies and Faux news). You are going to vote for God''s sake. Please have half a brain. If you want to know Obama, listen to him. He speaks truth with intelligence. he cares about small business and the middle class and simply wants the top 1% (e.g, Bush, Cheney, McCains...and other multi millionaires..Palin has assest that make her a mere millionnaire)to pay their fair share of taxes to take soem of the burden off us. Please wake up.

Whoa, looks like the GOP and NRO are following the same script. I have noticed how NRO acts like a tentacle of the GOP pounding the same message. Any data to support this idle supposition? None at all. The gist of this article is the absence of incriminating data makes Obama suspicious. Now look at Palin. She''s out and out corrupt. No, she''s not a suspicious character at all because she has pretty much erased our suspicions by abundantly validating them.

...It''''s like investing in an unknown small and new company, compared to a solid company that has a good record. Makes no sense to me.

Are you inferring that the GOP is a solid company with a good record? THAT''S rich!!!

ubu2008,
I also have a small business that I started in 1992.I have never got rich but pay the bills. I really don''t know how I will be able to do that once Obama and Pelosi get into my check book. Keep your $1000 and do not take mine and give it to a tax taker.Have you ever been to a store to buy hotdogs for your cookout and the one in front of you is buying prime rib and paying with food stamps? Obama, change for America, what he really means is you might have some change left in your pocket once me and Pelosi get done giving out all these handouts.

Chicago is an example of failed experiment.

You''re right. Milton Friedman and his Chicago boys, the basis of Reaganomics, is a failed experiment.

Obama have determined Obama will give you some of our tax money. You tax takers never get enough. The answer may be to work smarter in lieu of working longer. This is America you are free at present to have a great idea and profit from the idea. I was a single mother working 2 jobs. I saved and saved until I was able to start my own business. Now Obama wants to take the proceeds of my hard work and personal sacrifice and give them to the tax takers. I will most assuredly have to let go one of the 5 people who work for me when Obama increases my taxes. I will be sure to tell my employee when he looses his 45K a year job that he should thank Obama for those 1000 dollars he gave him. Just because we do not want Obama to redistribute our money to you tax takers doesn''t mean we do not care about people. I have 5 employees and I have furnished apartments, provided total set ups for unplanned babies; driven employees to local colleges and purchased study guides to encourage them to get an education; paid security deposits and utility bills. Unlike Obama''s I have had success in my efforts. I now have 2 college students with flex schedules; we transport one to and from work and school; we buy groceries and baby supplies for one employee because he is still learning to prioritize his monthly bills. I do not do these things in the form of loans, but rather as gifts because I do not want to put them in a position that will cause them to think they can never get ahead.
