The New Republic: How Ralph Ellison Explains Barack Obama
- I''ve looked into John McCain''s eyes and have seen three letters: G-O-P. Gross Old Pimp

- Your racism shows through your smears as clearly as your hatered for liberalism. I suspect your hate smear would be just about the same were it that a Latino or Asian was far ahead in the polls. Most likely your smear would read the same if it was a woman candidate who was flogging McCain in the polls.

- Go to foxnews.com and see the real Barack, "that one" the liberal media will not report about. Wake up and see what the rest of us have opened our eyes too. Yah, we see the pretty speech maker and promise the world guy you see too, but we also investigate past the "savior" image the media would have us believe. Truly educate yourself, Barack''s background is full to the hilt of radicalism with affiliations that are questionable in the extreme. John McCain''s an open book, Barack is not and that should be enough to make anyone investigate his chosen paths. Heck, why not put as much investigation into electing your President as you would an expensive purchase, reading ALL to get the best analysis.

- Now, CBS has officially joined the Obama campaign. Are there any independent media left?

- Yours is an interesting take on Obama''s first book, and his struggle growing up black in a white world. I have many issues with your interpretations of different dimensions of his life as revealed in "Dreams". Biden was a great pick as he was his committee chair, someone he knows and has worked with before, and he probably reminds him in some small ways of Gramps. I don''t think the image of his father was fiction. Obama did not select to be Black and reject his whiteness. Society did that for him. When he was home there was equality in love. But when he walked out the door, society saw and treated him as a black boy, then as a black man. He had to cognitively and psychologically make the adjustment so that he could effectively operate in the larger society. I think Lolo played a very important role in his coming of age and his coming to grips with life as he would face it. Lolo taught him how to be a man and deal with the crucible. They all made him who he is, and with the exception of Toots, they are all dead. What you see in Obama, is that he a part of every camp. Whites are comfortable with him because he knows them better than he knows any other group. Blacks are very comfortable with him because they know he had to deal with systematic racism all of his life. And other groups likewise, feel comfortable with him. No, Obama is not an Invisible Man, he is a man of real substance and duly recognized as such by the world.

- Most people don''t realize that Obama won''t do anything different than any of the other past presidents. He will give and distribute our tax dollars to his favorites groups. thats how it all politicians do their dirty deeds and he is no diffesrent. Silly little boys and Girls will GLORIFY OBAMA only to be let down when they grow up and realize hes just a human being.

- ---"I can enjoy the pleasurable sensation that comes to lucky Ivy League meritocrats of a certain age, when friends from college and graduate school are on the verge of really running things in America . . . Obama is the kind of leader we need, which is why it is a shame that he has decided to remain invisible."---
That''s why after supporting Barack in the primaries I veered off into undecided territory . . . it became clear really quickly that he is above all else a politician. He''s still doing the pursuit of status thing - his priority is to win the election to become President. When he gets in office, his priority''ll be to win his re-election to stay President.
That the electorate would prefer a masterful leader of the issues is of no import because the electorate will still vote in spades for the masterful politician who''s got the ideology for the time. I think remaining silent is an attempt on Barack''s part to play to his strengths rather than his weaknesses. Barack has never been a masterful leader on the issues - what he excels at is the art of the presentation - posing in a ''calm demeanor'', etc.
McCain''s a political animal too with his talk all sorts of riff-raff while the world is crashing down around us.
I think Rudy Giuliani was a leader. I don''t know what went wrong with his campaign :(
PS This article is really interesting with a lot of depth - hard to reduce my answer to the 1500 character limit . . . - Reply to this comment
- I hope Obama comes out swinging in the next debate. He needs to take it to the old, scurrilous, lying sack of junk that is McSame. Ask him why they are calling him a Muslim and a terrorist (when it is actually McSame and the GOP war-mongers who are terrorists).
Embarrass him for his false charges in front of everyone on national TV. Make him get really angry, maybe even start cursing in front of America. Then we can all see him for the trash scum he really is. - Reply to this comment

- It appears that the Democrats and our free left-wing press are trying to steal the election......Here you go:
Is ACORN Stealing The Election?
By INVESTOR''S BUSINESS DAILY | Posted Wednesday, October 08, 2008 4:20 PM PT
Election Fraud: A radical group Barack Obama used to work for is committing voter-registration fraud in several states, ahead of the election. What does Obama know about this scam?
It''s a legitimate question to raise now that the FBI has raided the offices of the nonprofit Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now in Nevada and North Carolina, two states where Obama and John McCain are running neck-and-neck. ACORN has registered bogus voters in both states.
The group''s voter-registration fraud is rampant, and authorities plan a nationwide sweep of ACORN offices to collect records.
In Nevada, state officials say the fraudulent registrations included forms for the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys football team, including quarterback Tony Romo."
Our free left-wing press is quility because they are "censoring" these FACTS from the American people.
Our free left-wing press is also "cooking" polls numbers to skew them towards Obama''s favor.
Then they use that information as propaganda to demoralize the GOP.....................Welcome to our liberal fascist nation......... - Reply to this comment
- Oblama is considered a writer? I thought he was just a self absorbed politician. He does not deserve the title of writer. To earn that title you have to write about something other than yourself.
