National Review Online: Republicans Sigh In Relief As VP Nominee Embodies Spirit Of Comeback Reagan
- To compare Palin to RayGun is totally ridiculous. RayGun is the one who set the current disaster in motion. I remember when he was first elected and started the "trickle down" nonsense. He quickly started deregulating every thing in sight and it went downhill from there. He was up to his arse in Iran-Contra but was never held responsible because Ollie North was willing to fall on his sword to protect him. He took credit for the fall of the Soviet Union when in reality the Soviets spent themselves into bankruptcy in Afghanistan...kind of like we are doing in Iraq. He spent like a drunken sailor and left it to our children to pay the bill. Those things are historic facts and connot be disputed. But at least he could speak english. He had a dignified bearing and looked right at home with other world leaders. Palin is embarrassing. I don''t want someone like me or anyone I know as VP. I want a leader that I can look up to and trust. She is no Ronald Reagan!

- Michael Reagan was the first to say this weeks ago. She is an outsider with common sense and proven experience on cutting property taxes, standing up for property owners rights when the gov''t tried to strip their land of mineral rights possibly affecting drinking water. Being a whistle blower on conflicts of interests and preferential contracts and kick backs to oil industry executives. It is also great that today one of our stauchest allies, Britian, have come forward to voice their concerns about Obama. It seems like his love for the Europeans has backfired. Also the Vatican has denounced Biden and Pelosi. aka obama also.

- She speaks more clearly than Bush, but cannot pronounce nuclear any better-the "change" she called for was a better aim by Cheney-I had more in mind myself.

- I don''t see Palin as the second coming of Regan. Its more like the second electoral campagin of Herbert Hoover.
Macain has conceeded Michgan. He is on the verge of an electoral hemmorage. - Reply to this comment
- Chronicling John McCain''s flip-flops, as of now, the grand total stands at 74 reversals.
I should note that there''s nothing offensive about a political figure changing his or her mind once in a while. Policy makers come to one conclusion, they gain more information, and then they reach a different conclusion. That is, to be sure, a good thing -- it reflects a politician with an open mind and a healthy intellectual curiosity. Better to have a leader who changes his or her mind based on new information than one who stubbornly sticks to outmoded policy positions, regardless of facts or circumstances. McCain says he''s "grown" and "refined" his positions. At first blush, this sounds completely reasonable.
So why do McCain''s flip-flops matter? Because all available evidence suggests his reversals aren''t sincere, they''re cynically calculated for political gain.
McCain has been in Congress for more than a quarter-century; he''s bound to shift now and then on various controversies. But therein lies the point -- McCain was consistent on most of these issues, right up until he started running for president, at which point he conveniently abandoned literally dozens of positions he used to hold, as part of a drive to pander and become palatable to the far-right Republican base. - Reply to this comment

C''mon do you really want another unqualified Republican vice president put in charge of energy policy? Let''s see the one we have took over when gas was $1.50, had his secret energy meetings with his oil buddy pals and we now have gas at $4? We can shoot for $12/gal gas with Palin in charge of energy. - Reply to this comment

- And so... it begins. The fall of the neocon regime. Bush and his cronies are on his way out, and it is beginning to look like people are wising up on McSame.
Endless war.
Boundless corruption.
A wrecked economy.
Constant lies.
A weakening of our world standing.
That''s all it took. That''s all it took for enough American partisans to pull their heads out of their backsides long enough to understand that they were in trouble with Bush and the Neocons.
Maybe now we can get a few things done. - Reply to this comment
