Comments on: How McCain Reconciles Lies With Honor
The New Republic: The Logic And Rationale Behind John McCain's New Sleazy Campaign Style
- The "honor" title was given to McCain by a group of know-not-what-honor-is. Being POW is an unfavorable "fate" fallen onto a soldier. It doesn''t make the fell-off-plane POW more of a hero than the others who fought the same war. Shouldn''t we call all soldiers "hero"? Shouldn''t we call all POWs "hero", including the Iraqi POWs? Yet McCain has made use of this "accidental" opportunity, working to his full advantage. He fully used "hero" as a mask so he can do evil under the name of "honor". He could cheat on his disabled first wife. His affair with Cindy and greed for money and fame were protected under the name of "honor". Now he really believes he can do anything to have the country fooled. Enjoying the advantages of the "hero mask" he accidentally ran into, he now thinks he is entitled to every "honor", including the presidency.

- The New Republic, and See B.S. News as a willing accomplice, is a cancer on America. Their continued support of neo-pagan socialist candidates is nothing less than treasonous.

- The top banks clamoring for their handouts as their profits plummet launched aggressive campaigns to woo illegal alien homebuyers. The Washington Post noted, almost as an afterthought in a 2005 report: "Hispanics, the nation''s fastest-growing major ethnic or racial group, have been courted aggressively by real estate agents, mortgage brokers and programs for first-time buyers that offer help with closing costs. In addition, fraudsters have engaged in massive house-flipping rings using illegal aliens as straw buyers. Among many examples cited by the FBI: a conspiracy in Las Vegas involving a former Nevada First Residential Mortgage Company branch manager who directed loan officers and processors in the origination of 233 fraudulent Federal Housing Authority loans valued at over $25 million. The defrauders manufactured and submitted false employment and income documentation for borrowers; most were illegal immigrants from Mexico. To date, the FBI reported, "Fifty-eight loans with a total value of $6.2 million have gone into default, with a loss to the Housing and Urban Development Department of over $1.9 million." Thanks to lax Bush administration-approved policies allowing illegal aliens to use "matricula consular cards" and taxpayer identification numbers to open bank accounts, more forms of mortgage fraud have burgeoned. Moneylenders still have no access to a verification system to check Social Security numbers before approving loans.

- McCain was "in the middle of" the Keating Five case in the sense that he was "exonerated." The lawyer for the Senate Ethics Committee wanted McCain removed from the investigation altogether, but, as The New York Times reported: "Sen. McCain was the only Republican embroiled in the affair, and Democrats on the panel would not release him." Even if McCain had been implicated in the Keating Five scandal that would still have absolutely nothing to do with the subprime mortgage crisis currently roiling the financial markets.
Just for the record, I''m an Independent and haven''t made up my mind as to whom to vote for. I think that I''m going to vote for a Third Party candidate. - Reply to this comment
- This crisis was caused by political correctness being forced on the mortgage lending industry in the Clinton era. Before the Democrats'' affirmative action lending policies became an embarrassment, the Los Angeles Times reported that, starting in 1992, a majority-Democratic Congress "mandated that Fannie and Freddie increase their purchases of mortgages for low-income and medium-income borrowers. Operating under that requirement, Fannie Mae, in particular, has been aggressive and creative in stimulating minority gains." Under Clinton, the entire federal government put massive pressure on banks to grant more mortgages to the poor and minorities. Clinton''s secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Andrew Cuomo, investigated Fannie Mae for racial discrimination and proposed that 50 percent of Fannie Mae''s and Freddie Mac''s portfolio be made up of loans to low- to moderate-income borrowers by the year 2001. Instead of looking at "outdated criteria," such as the mortgage applicant''s credit history and ability to make a down payment, banks were encouraged to consider nontraditional measures of credit.
Threatening lawsuits, Clinton''s Federal Reserve demanded that banks treat welfare payments and unemployment benefits as valid income sources to qualify for a mortgage. (Ann Coulter) - Reply to this comment

- Hey doc, everone''''s version of the truth is the truth to them. And when their version of the truth is attacked then ego steps in to protect it. To be president you''''d have to be an egomaniac. I do not believe there is a person running the country today that does not fall into this category. They all lie to protect their own self interest and to think that Democrats do not lie or lie less than Reblicans is a little nieve. They are all crooks. Every single one of them. They all need to go in November. Every incumbent should go NOW. Don''''t vote strictly on party lines. Vote against any incumbent. That will be the biggest message you tell the country this year.
I COMPLETELY AGREE. ALL INCUMBENTS NEED TO GO!! - Reply to this comment
- There is an old belief that when one becomes a consistent liar, eventually, the liar comes to BELIEVE his own lies.
Over the years, the neocon Fascist National Socialist Nazi Republicans have become expert at this, going back to the days when Richard "the Trickster" Nixon, tried to convince everyone he had nothing to do with Watergate, even when it became known that he was trying to throw "hush money" at people, AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE!!!
Of course, the evil, cowardly Whimpo-crats have been good at this too, as evidence by John Edwards "misleading" everyone about his high moral fiber.
It must go with the territory of being a politician that you have to lie and often, to get the "brass ring".

Rick Davis, John McCain''s campaign manager, has remained the treasurer and a corporate director of his lobbying firm this year, despite repeated statements by campaign officials that he had ended his relationship with the firm in 2006, according to corporate records.
The McCain campaign this week criticized news stories disclosing that, since 2006, Davis''s firm has been paid a $15,000-a-month consulting fee from Freddie Mac, the troubled mortgage giant recently put under federal conservatorship. The stories, published Tuesday by NEWSWEEK, The New York Times and Roll Call, reported that the consulting fees continued until last month even though, according to two sources familiar with the arrangement, neither Davis nor anybody else at his firm did any substantial work for the payments.
Stefanie Mullin, a spokesperson for the Federal Housing Finance Agency, which has taken over Freddie Mac and its sister entity Fannie Mae, confirmed Wednesday that the Davis Manafort contract is being terminated. "All lobbying activity has stopped and political consulting contracts at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are in the process of being terminated," said Mullin. (Democratic strategist Paul Begala also was on the Freddie Mac payroll, according to sources familiar with the arrangement.)

- Also, that was a bit low on the messiah ad making fun of mccain because he can''''t use a computer. The reason the man can''''t use a computer is because of the injuries he sustained in Vietnam.
So, hope you get this post.

What is this Messiah stuff? The only Messiah we have is Jesus Christ. Obama did not portray himself to be bo one but a man who wants to bring change to Washington. Why must you brain-dead looneys continue to say this stuff? I know the answer - because you are brainwashed by that fat, lying, disgusting El Rusho. I would be ashamed to take my cues from that stupid drug addict! - Reply to this comment
- McLying has sold himself. It''''s as simple as that. He wants to be POTUS so bad, he''''s willing to throw away the honor he earned in the Hanoi Hilton.
Very sad and ultimately very poisonous for the country. "Country first?" Sorry, it looks like "Me first."

Isn''t it the truth. I thought McCain was much more honorable than this. At one time, he was the only Repub that I liked but now after witnessing these bold-face lies and distractions, he has showed me the only man that I would vote for GW Bush over - John McCain. - Reply to this comment

- The latest McCain advert is yet another lie, stating that Obama has ''''remained mum'''' on the financial crisis. I don''''t know how this man can sleep at night knowing how many lies he has pandered.

- This article summarizes a lesson that the Dems have yet to learn: In order to accomplish your political objectives, you must first win, and do what it takes to win. In politics, the ends do justify the means. The Republicans understand this, and that''''s why they''''ve been successful in the past two elections. Forget about the "high road". Modern presidential contests are actually pretty tame compared to those in early American history.
